Match Results

06/10/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s summer league continued on Lambwath pond on Sun 6th Oct. They were greeted by appalling weather conditions with a strong south easterly wind accompanied by continuous driving rain that continued until the later stages of the match. Despite the conditions the temperatures held up well at around the 12 degrees mark. At the weigh-in Steve claimed top spot for the second match in a row with a excellent weight of 170lbs.13ozs. in peg 10. He was followed home in second by Colin only 10lbs. back in peg 2 with 160lbs.10ozs. Willy claimed the last place in the winners frame in peg 15 with 147lbs. 8ozs. Big Ken Swyers in peg 27 took fourth with another good weight of 140lbs.11ozs. he was followed in fifth by brother Craig Swyers who fell just short of the ton mark with 91lbs.2ozs. in peg 24. Summing up it was a very good close match despite the conditions but we have come to expect nothing less from this group of anglers. Well done to all anglers in difficult conditions.

05/10/2019 - A.A..C.
A.A.C. fished their penultimate summer league match on Lambwath pond on 5th Oct. 2019. The day was mostly cloudy with a light to moderate south easterly breeze with temperatures around the 15 degrees mark. Observing the match a couple of times the fishing appeared steady rather than spectacular. At the weigh-in Peter took the honours with a decent weight of 79lbs. 10ozs. in peg 12. Paul in peg 7 drew the golden peg but had to leave before the weigh in and must have known he was in with a chance of taking the money, he would have been disappointed to learn that he had been pushed into second place by a matter of 3lbs.after weighing 76lbs.15ozs. Last place in the winners frame went to Ian in peg 24 with 61lbs 3ozs. Steve Parker finished just outside the money in fourth place with 57lbs 12ozs. from peg 30. All in all a decent match with weights falling in line with most recent matches following colder nights and much heavy rain that will probably have dropped the water temperature. Congratulations to all placed participants.

02/10/2019 - G. Fairfield
Gary's mid-week matches continued on Lambwath pond on Wed 2nd Oct. The weather was mainly cloudy with a strong north westerly wind developing that kept the temperature down to a cool 12 degrees. Enquiries during the match appeared to suggest that the fishing was on the slow side. At the weigh-in Keith was declared the winner in peg 11 with the scales stopping 6ozs agonisingly short of the 100 lbs.mark at 99 lbs. 10 ozs. This gave him a cushion of 32 lbs.over second placed Dave in peg 8 who managed 67lbs.8ozs. Last place in the winners frame went to Gary who brought 60lbs.8ozs to the scales. Fourth place went to John Harrison with 56lbs 2 ozs in peg 7. Summing up, weights were much reduced from last Sunday's match but falling in line with other recent matches after large amounts of rain and colder nights arrive. Congratulations to all placed participants.

29/09/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken's summer league continued on Lambwath pond on Sun 29th Sept. As forecast the weather was poor with low misty cloud and very little breeze and frequent rain showers. From late morning the wind freshened to strong from a cool north easterly direction forcing the temperature down to 12 degrees. The showers, some heavy continued throughout the day. After several matches of reduced weights we were in for a big surprise at the weigh-in as Steve in peg 10 came out tops with a tremendous weight of 245 lbs. Colin took second place with a equally impressive 218 lbs. in peg 2. Craig claimed third place in peg 14 with 194 lbs. In fourth spot was Lenny Pulford with 174 lbs. In peg 30. Fifth was Ian Raper in peg 25 who managed 169 lbs. Brother Andy Raper took sixth place with 159 lbs. in peg 21 and seventh was Big Ken who also topped the ton mark with 119lbs. from peg 7. Summing up, it was a match of tremendous weights in difficult conditions but we should not be too surprised as this group of anglers have produced weights that have out stripped all other matches throughout the season. Well done to all participants, not just the top three.

28/09/2019 - Robbo.
Neil Robbo. of Risby ponds fame brought a group of anglers to fish a match on Lambwath pond on Sat.28th Sept. On arrival the weather was less than welcoming with a strong south westerly wind driving heavy frequent showers down the pond making for difficult conditions. The cloud cleared somewhat around lunchtime giving some welcome sunshine that raised the temperature to a modest 15 degrees. Robbo. not only organised the match but at the weigh-in he proved to be the winner with a decent weight for the conditions of 114lbs.14 ozs. from peg 25. This gave him a comfortable cushion of 41lbs. Over Alex in second place who managed 73lbs.2 ozs. from peg 15. Last place in the winners frame went to Trevor in peg 7 who brought 56 lbs.1oz to the scales. Summing up, it was another match of reduced weights in difficult conditions especially during the first half of the match. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all anglers for sticking it out in the elements.

25/09/2019 - G. Fairfield
Gary's mid-week matches continued on Lambwath pond on Wed 25th. Sept. The day started with overcast skies and murky conditions with intermittent drizzle and light rain through the early part of the match. After lunch time the clouds cleared occasionally to give some sunshine that lifted the temperature to a pleasant 18 degrees. Viewing the match a couple of times as it progressed the fish appeared slow to respond to the offered baits. It was back to normal at the weigh-in as Gary claimed first place in peg 10 with a weight of 61lbs.8ozs. His catch included a late carp of 14lbs. that was just enough to condemn Keith to second place with 48lbs.4 ozs. from peg 21. The last place in the winners frame went to John in peg 15 who managed 41lbs.4 ozs. Big John Laws was only 8 ozs adrift in fourth place with 40 lbs.12 ozs. from peg 25. Summing up, in line with recent matches we saw a reduction in weights that may be put down to cooler nights and the seasons end in sight. Congratulations to all placed participants.

21/09/2019 - A. A. C.
The A.A.C. Club held a summer league match on the Caravan pond on Sat. 21st.Sept. The weather was fine with clear blue skies giving continuos sunshine that lifted the temperature to around 18 degrees although it did feel cooler on the Caravan pond due to the strong south easterly wind blowing in off the sea. Only a few matches are held on this pond so it was interesting to see how it performed. At the weigh-in it turned out that Ian "I never draw a good peg" Page was the winner with 47lbs.11ozs. from peg 14. Not only did he win the match but also took the golden peg prize worth 100. In second place was Pete who managed 39lbs.7ozs in peg 11. Paul in peg 17 took the last place in the winners frame with 24 lbs.3 ozs. Very close scrutiny of the scales was required to separate third from fourth with Steve Parker having to settle for fourth finishing only 1oz. adrift with 23 lbs.2 ozs. from the adjacent peg 18. Congratulations to all placed participants.

18/09/2019 - G. Fairfield
Gary's mid-week matches continued on Lambwath pond on Wed 18th. Sept. The early morning was cool but with high light cloud and a very light westerly breeze the sun soon began to warm things up giving temperatures of a very comfortable 18 degrees. This was in complete contrast to yesterday as a very strong northerly wind made things rather cool. As the match progressed today it was noted that the fish were slow to feed, suggesting that there would be no records broken today. At the weigh-in Chris was declared the winner with a decent weight of 92 lbs.1oz. from peg 7. He was followed in second by Rod who managed 72lbs.7ozs. in peg 22. The last place in the winners frame went to Dave who brought 55lbs.12 ozs. to the scales from peg 29. Fourth place went to John Laws in peg 25 with 39lbs.12ozs. Usual winners Gary and Keith fished the match but both finished well down the list giving the winners frame an unusual look. Summing up, as we have seen in recent matches the weights are dropping as the nights get colder and the season enters it's latter stages. Congratulations to all placed participants.

15/09/2019 - Post Office A.C.
On Sun.15th. Sept. the Post Office club turned up for a match on our Lambwath pond. The morning was still with a fair bit of cloud but also some sunshine that lifted the temperature to around a warm 20 degrees. Around lunch time the cloud cover increased and the wind increased in strength making things much cooler with some light rain falling at the end of the match. At the weigh-in Graham took the honours with a good weight of 100 lbs.11ozs. in peg 6 which gave him a cushion of 31 lbs over second placed Colin who managed 69lbs.3 ozs. from peg 27. The last place in the winners frame went to Jim in peg 7 with 58 lbs.11ozs. Summing up, we have seen a reduction in weights in recent matches probably due to cooler overnight temperatures and the end of the season on the horizon. This match illustrates the trend of recent results. Congratulations to all placed participants.

15/09/2019 - K. Swyers
The Moat Pond was the venue for Big Ken's match on Sun.15th.Sept. The weather was fair, calm and cloudy. The sun broke through during the morning raising the temperature to a warm 20 degrees. After lunch time the cloud cover increased along with the breeze making things much cooler with a little light rain falling at the end of the match. Knowing the problems the Moat has experienced this season, the question yet again was "how would it fish"?. At the weigh-in things looked better as Andy claimed top spot with 73 lbs.5 ozs in peg 23. Keeping things in the family, brother Ian was only 4 lbs. adrift in second with 69lbs.8 ozs. from peg 30. ILenny took third in peg 4 with 39lbs 11 ozs pushing Willy Eyre into fourth weighing 36lbs.9ozs from peg 7. Summing up, better weights were obtained than in most matches this season but this is probably to be expected from this group of very good anglers. Well done to all.

Gary's mid-week matches continued on Lambwath pond on Wed.11th. Sept. The morning was overcast with some light rain, there was one very heavy but short downpour just before lunch after which the skies cleared allowing the sun to raise the temperature to around the 20 degrees mark despite the very strong westerly wind. After dropping out of the winners frame last week for the first time in this series of matches it was back to normal service as Gary took first place with a good weight of 111lbs.10 ozs. from peg 29. This gave him a cushion of 43lbs.over John in second place with 68 lbs.5 ozs. in peg 25. Keith in peg 10 was in third place with 64 lbs.13 ozs. Not far behind in fourth was Dave Salmon in peg 30 with decent back up weight of 57lbs.2ozs. Rod Teale was a good fifth with 50lbs.5ozs. Summing up it was a decent match with good back up weights. Congratulations to all placed participants.

08/09/2019 - Falcon A.C.
Falcon A.C held a match on the Moat Pond on Sun. 8th Sept. The morning was fair with clear skies and sunshine, the wind was still blowing off the sea from a north easterly direction but was much reduced in strength from yesterday's near gales. As most people will know the Moat has produced poor results recently so expectations where not high before the 0. Fears were again proved correct at the weigh-in as Chris took first place with 29 lbs.6 ozs.from peg 19. Grant was second managing 25 lbs. in peg 23. Third place went to Colin with 13 lbs.10 ozs. From peg 11. Summing up, it has been a disappointing weekend of results on this pond but knowing why is proving difficult. Well done to all anglers for persevering.

Big Ken`s summer League continued on the Caravan pond on Sun 8th Sept. The weather was fine with blue skies and sunshine, the breeze was still blowing in off the sea from a north easterly direction but was much reduced in strength from yesterday`s gales. The temperatures rose to a comfortable high teens. At the weigh-in it proved to be a very close run thing with only 10lbs. covering the first four anglers. Colin claimed first place from peg 34 with a decent weight of 70lbs. 8ozs. He was followed home in second by Andy who weighed 67lbs. in peg 12. Only 4lbs. back was Steve in peg 25 with 61lbs. 08/09/2019 - Tristar A.C.
Bridlington club Tristar held a match on Lambwath pond on Sun. 8th Sept. The weather was fair with clear skies and sunshine. There was still a light north easterly breeze blowing but thankfully not with the power of yesterday's near gales. The temperature rose to around the high teens mark making for comfortable conditions. Looking over the bank on a couple of occasions the fish appeared to be coming to the nets a little slowly suggesting that weights may be down on recent results. At the weigh-in Laurie claimed top spot with a decent weight of 77 lbs from peg 11. He was followed home by Steve in peg 30 with 69lbs 9ozs. Third place went to Andy with 67lbs. from peg 15. Just outside the winners frame in fourth place was Geoff Thomas with 55lbs.4ozs. Summing up it was a decent hard fought match despite the lower weights than of late. 07/09/2019 - A. A. C.
On Sat 7th.Sept. The A.A.C. continued their summer league programme on the Moat Pond. The optimism was not high due to this season's results on this pond and the recent overnight drop in temperatures. The day started with overcast skies and a strong north eastearly wind, things improved later as the sun appeared to lift temperatures to around 15 degrees. Making enquiries a couple of times as I passed the pond the answer was "not good". This was proved to be correct at the weigh-in with Ian taking first place with 20 lbs.10ozs. in peg 17. Tony was second, managing 17 lbs.2ozs. from peg 12 the new peg! In third position only 6 ozs back was Paul with 16 lbs.12 ozs.in peg 10. Phil Smalley took fourth place in peg 13 with 14 lbs 6 ozs. All in all another poor match with disappointing weights.

07/09/2019 - Cottingham A.C.
Cottingham A.C. held a match on Lambwath pond on Sat.7th.Sept. The early part of the day was cool due to a overnight drop in temperatures and the strong north easterly wind. Temperatures rose later to around the 15 degree mark as the sun appeared, but still felt cooler in the wind. Observations during the match seemed to show that the fish were slow to feed in most areas. At the weigh-in John, not for the first time on this pond claimed top spot with a decent weight for the conditions of 82 lbs.15 ozs. Second was Mark with 65 lbs.2 ozs. from the adjacent peg 28. Third place went to Andy in peg 6 with 53 lbs.15 ozs. Paul Tilson was just poutside the winners frame, managing 44 lbs. In peg 22. Summing up, we have seen a overall drop off of weights in the last couple of matches which may be sign of things to come as cooler weather sets in as the season reaches the later stages. Congratulations to all placed participants.

04/09/2019 - G. Fairfield
Gary`s midweek matches carried on today 4th Sep. 2019 on Lambwath pond. The day started calm with a little rain but the south westerly wind increased to very strong as the match wore on making for difficult conditions. Fast moving clouds and sunny spells saw the temperature down at around 17 degrees giving a much cooler feel to things. As the match progressed it became obvious that the weights would most likely be lower than we have come to expect. This was proved to be correct at the weigh-in with Rob claiming first place with 80lbs.8ozs.in peg 6.He was followed home by Rod who managed 61lbs.6ozs from peg 23. Third place went to Steve with 57lbs.15ozs.in peg 8. Dave Pratt was in fourth position with 48lbs.in peg 30. Summing up it was a difficult match due to the very strong winds that may have been responsible for the lower weights across the board. well done to all participants.

01/09/2019 - Bluebell A. C.
Bluebell held a league match on Lambwath pond on Sun.1st. Sept. The morning was much cooler than of late with overcast conditions and a cool south westerly wind. Temperatures managed to climb to around 18 degrees when the sun came out after lunch. Fish were slow to show during the first half of the match but became more obliging in the later stages. Paul in peg 6 claimed top spot with a weight of 96lbs.5 ozs. He was followe'd in second by Chris in peg 26 who managed 70lbs. 10 ozs. Last place in the frame went to Carl with 54 lbs. 14 ozs. in peg 9. Fourth place went to John Lower who weighed 45 lbs. 7ozs. Summing up, the fish were harder to tempt than in recent matches hence the lower weights across the board. Is this something we will see from now on as we get into the latter stages of the season.?Congratulations to all placed participants.

Big Ken's summer league continued today Sun 1st. Sept. On the Caravan pond. The weather had a all together cooler feel to it with overcast skies and a fresh south westerly breeze blowing down the pond. The temperature rose to around the 18 degree mark whenever the sun appeared. I was a little unsure what to expect from this match as I do not consider the Caravan to be a very good 'match pond' but I was pleasantly surprised at the weigh-in to see a decent outcome. Steve claimed first place with a good weight of 115lbs. from peg 12. near the island L.H. side. Willy took second spot with 101lbs.8 ozs in peg 34. He was followed in third by Colin in peg 36 who managed 63lbs. These two pegs are on the straight down the R.H. side of the pond. Lenny Pulford down at the very bottom of the pond was fourth with 56 lbs. All in all a decend result from a very good group of anglers. Well done to all participants.

31/08/2019 - Hull Angling Centre
On Sat 31st. Aug. Geoff of Hull Angling Club kindly held a charity match in aid of popular angler Norman Daniels who sadly passed away earlier this year. The weather was warm with temperatures reaching the low 20's but it was spoilt by the gale force south westerly wind that made conditions difficult. The match was held on Lambwath and Moat ponds with prizes for each pond due to the inequalities of the two ponds this year. As expected all the top weights came from Lambwath with Barry coming out the overall winner with 115 lbs from peg 9. Mark in peg 30 produced 96lbs in peg 30 to finish second followed by big Steve in peg 25 who managed 77lbs. The Moat results were again disappointing with Carl coming out on top with 34 lbs from peg 13. Willy in peg 30 was second with 25 lbs followed by Steve with 13 lbs. in peg 1. Summing up it was a very mixed bag match spoilt by the performance of the Moat Pond and the gale force wind. Congratulations to the winners and well done to all anglers for competing in the spirit that the occasion deserved.

30/08/2019 - Plaxton`s A.C.
Scarborough club Plaxton`s held their annual match on Lambwath pond on Fri. 30th Aug. The day was fair but overcast early on with the cloud breaking up later to give some warm sunshine. There was a very strong to gale force south westerly wind throughout but despite this the temperatures rose to the low 20`s. This year the club had a few members missing so only fished the L.H. side of the rope using the higher numbered pegs. The wind made it difficult to fish the pole at long range restricting some options. At the weigh-in Driffield angler Colin McNeil and not for the first time by a long chalk on these ponds took the honours with a excellent weight of 186lbs. 12ozs. from peg 30. This gave him a comfortable cushion of 68lbs. over second placed Paul who managed 118lbs. 12ozs. in peg 25. Third place went to Gerald in peg 22 who finished just below the ton mark with 96lbs. 12ozs. Overall a decent match in very blustery conditions. Congratulations to all placed participants.

28/08/2019 - G. Fairfield
Gary`s mid week matches continued on Lambwath pond on Wed. 28th Aug. A little light rain fell during the early morning with more threatened through the day. Dark threatening clouds did pass over during the match but the rain kept away. There was a south westerly breeze with temperatures down of late at around 18 degrees. As in line with recent matches the fish were slow to come to the nets during the early part of the match but things improved as the match wore on. Surprise, surprise at the weigh-in Keith took the honours with a decent weight of 124lbs, 4ozs. from peg 10. He was followed home in second by Gary who managed 90lbs.12 ozs in peg 25. These two anglers have a remarkable record of finishing first and second in all the 6 or 7 matches held on this pond. Third place went to Rob in peg 9 with 86lbs.15 ozs. Just out of the winners frame was Martin Hemmings with 49 lbs.10 ozs. from peg 21. Summing up it was another match of lower weights than of recent weeks but congratulations to all placed participants, with a special mention for Keith and Gary`s excellent record.

25/08/2019 - Armstrongs
Armstrongs A. C. decided to hold a match on the Caravan pond on the Sun 25th Aug. It could be described as a bit of a experiment as very few matches are held on this pond. The day started off cloudless with a light breeze and temperatures quickly rising to the mid 20`s. There was very little movement on the waters surface and the strong south easterly wind of the last two days did not develop to help the conditions. At the weigh-in Paul claimed first place with a weight of 40 lbs. 9 ozs. from peg 10. He was followed by Stuart in peg 4 with 26 lbs.15 ozs. Third spot went to Dave who managed 19 lbs.15 ozs, in peg 6. All in all a disappointing match with poor weights. A couple of anglers `blanked` with most others only managing weights in the low teens. Whether the very hot still conditions were a factor I do not know but I don`t think it would help. Personally I don`t think this is a `match pond` but who am I to say?. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all anglers for sticking it out in very hot conditions.

25/08/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s summer league continued on Lambwath pond on Sun 25th Aug. The day started warm with a cloudless sky and very little in the way of a breeze. The temperatures rose to the mid 20`s as the day wore on when a light south easterly breeze did materialise and appeared to have some effect as most of the winning weights came from areas of the pond with a ripple on the surface. At the weigh-in it proved to be a very close run contest with only 14lbs covering the top four. Colin took first place with a very good weight of 166lbs.13ozs. in peg 12, he was followed by Willy in peg 10 with 154lbs.1oz. This is where close scrutiny of the scales was required with Craig only 12ozs adrft in peg 14 with 153lbs.5ozs. Even closer, only 6ozs back was Steve Conlan with 152lbs. 15ozs, in peg 21.Barry Weal may consider himself a little unlucky to not finish higher than fifth with a good effort in peg 7, managing 115lbs.8 ozs. Summing up , it was a good close match with this groups weights continuing to top the list of match weights. Well done to all anglers in very warm conditions.

24/08/2019 - D. Brooks
Dave Brooks held a summer league match on the Moat pond on Sat. 24th Aug. During the morning it was very warm with full sunshine giving temperatures in the mid 20`s. but around lunch time a freshening south easterly wind sprang up. coming in off the sea, making it cooler if you were not in a sheltered area. After the draw Lenny complained that he had the worst peg on the pond, surprise, surprise, but at the weigh-in it turned out not too bad as he took first place with a cushion of 40 lbs. over his closest rival. His winning weight was 75 lbs 3 ozs. from peg 21 followed by Colin in peg 30 who managed 34 lbs. 11 ozs. Third place went to Shaun with 26 lbs. 3 ozs in peg13. Fourth was Dave Brooks in peg 4 with 24 lbs. 8 ozs. It will be noted that the first two names feature regularly in the K. Swyers match winners on these ponds but I am still waiting to type the "best angler in the areas" name in the winners frame. Come on Geoffry! Generally it can be described as a disappointing match with poor weights for most anglers with a run away winner. Well done to Lenny and all other placed anglers.

24/08/2019 - A.A..C.
A.A.C. carried on their summer league programme on Lambwath pond on Sat. 24th Aug. The day started off calm and sunny with temperatures rising to the mid twenty`s. A fairly strong south easterly wind developed into the afternoon dropping the thermometer to around the high teens out of the sheltered areas. As in line with recent matches the fish were slow to feed in the early parts but things came to life during the afternoon with fish moving into the margins.Barry won the match with a weight of 70 lbs. 10 ozs. in peg 25 at the top end of the pond where the wind had the most influence. Andy claimed second spot with 66 lbs.15 ozs from peg 13. Pete took the last place in the winners frame with 52 lbs. 8 ozs.in peg 8. Tony Pickup managed 42 lbs.10 ozs. to finish fourth in peg 26.Summing up, it was a very warm day with not much movement on the water in the early stages which may have played a part in the less than average weights achieved in recent matches. Congratulations to all placed participants.

Gary held a further mid- week match on Lambwath pond on Wed. 21st Aug. The day was fair with high fast moving clouds due to the fresh to strong south westerly wind. It remained warm around 21 degrees. Again due to the strong wind it was difficult for some anglers to fish the pole at distance. In the early part of the match the fish were slow to come to the net which has been a regular feature of recent matches. Things improved as fish moved into the margins during the afternoon. Gary kept up his tremendous run in this series of matches to again claim first place from peg 9 with a weight of 100 lbs. 8 ozs. Second place went to Dave who brought 85 lbs. 2 ozs. to the scales from peg 28. Big John in the adjacent peg 30 took the last place in the frame with 76 lbs. 8 ozs. Harry was fourth weighing 59 lbs. 4 ozs. in peg 7. Summing up it was another match with less than recent average weights but congratulations to Gary for his long run in the top two.

18/08/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s summer league continued on Lambwath pond on Sun 18th Aug. The weather was fair with fast moving clouds due to the very strong south westerly wind Despite the wind the temperature held up well at 22 degrees. Fishing the pole at distance out in front proved almost impossible in the cross wind but it became easier as the fish moved into the margins as the match moved on. At the weigh-in Willy "i`m not doing any good today" again took first place with a tremendous weight of 239 lbs from peg 24. Colin claimed second place from peg 14 with another excellent weight of 203 lbs 13 ozs. Ian in peg 10 may have expected to finish higher with his 162 lbs. but had to settle for third. Craig Swyers was fourth with 154 lbs. from peg 7. He was followed in fifth by Steve Conlan who managed 130 lbs in peg 21. Barry Weal finished sixth with 112 lbs. from peg 2. Summing up, this was another tremendous match by this group of excellent anglers. I believe this is the third match this season by this group that has produced winning weights of over 200 lbs. Well done to all participants.

17/08/2019 - A.A..C.
A.A.C. held their annual open/invitation match on Lambwath pond on Sat.17th Aug. The weather was fair with long sunny spells and fast moving clouds due to the moderate south westerly wind. The temperature was a warm 21 degrees. Looking over the pond bank on a couple of occasions during the match I saw very few fish being caught giving me cause to believe that there would be no big weights today! At the weigh-in my fears were confirmed with Andy taking first place with a below par weight of 66 lbs. 9 ozs from peg 29. Ian was less than four pounds back in second place with 62 lbs.13 ozs from peg 23. Tony was another four pounds adrift in third managing 58 lbs.14 ozs. in peg 15. Fourth place went to Wayne Pickup with a weight of 57 lbs.8 ozs. in peg 27. All in all a close fought match at the top with only nine pounds separating the top four. Disappointingly the weights were down on recent weeks results which may be put down to the amount of rain that fell yesterday and overnight but this is only supposition as to be honest I have no idea!. Congratulations to all placed participants.

Gary continued his mid week matches on Lambwath pond on Wed. 14th Aug. The weather was mostly overcast with a fresh south westerly breeze with temperatures down on recent times at 18 degrees. The match appeared to start fairly slowly but picked up during the afternoon. At the weigh-in Keith claimed first place for the second week in a row with a excellent weight of 156lbs. 2ozs. Close attention to the scales was required to separate first from second as Gary was only 14ozs back with another very good effort weighing 155lbs 4ozs. Third place went to Peter in peg 25 with 96 lbs. Martin Hemmings was just outside the winners frame in fourth managing 94lbs. from peg 29. Rob Smith claimed fifth with 81lbs in peg 9. Summing up, it was a decent match with some good weights and well done to Keith for his second win on the trot and for finishing in the top two four times out of five. And to Gary who has finished in the first two for the last five matches.. Well done!

11/08/2019 - Inglemire A.C.
Inglemire held a club match on Lambwath pond on Sun.11th Aug. The weather was an improvement on yesterday but there was still a strong south westerly wind with more sunshine and temperatures down a little at 20 degrees. Looking over the bank a couple of times during the match I did not see many fish being played so as in line with yesterday I suspected that the weights may be down on recent results. My concern was proved correct at the weigh-in with weights below the now expected levels. Mike was the eventual winner with 66 lbs 6 ozs. from peg 11, he was followed home in second by Les in peg 24 who managed 49 lbs.12 ozs, Third place was claimed by Ian in peg 29 with 42 lbs.Alan Jones followed brother Ian in 4th place weighing 35 lbs. 2 ozs from peg 10 and finally Martin Hemmings was in fifth with 32 lbs 7 ozs. in peg 8. Match weights over this week end are down on recent weeks results for what ever reason. Congratulations to all placed participants.

10/08/2019 - A.A..C.
A.A.C. continued their summer league on the moat pond today 10th Aug. The weather as predicted was very wild with fast moving clouds due to the gale force south westerly winds. Luckily the rain held off and it was warm at 23 degrees. The wind was making it difficult to fish the pole at distance and the fish appeared slow to come to the nets. At the weigh-in Phil took first place with 45 lbs. from peg 12. Only 4 lbs. back was Steve with 41 lbs in peg 7. Last place in the winners frame went to Ian who managed 23 lbs from peg 17. The winning weights all came from the sea end of the pond with the wind blowing into them. Most anglers at the sheltered car park end of the pond struggled to catch above single figure weights. Summing up it was a difficult match with disappointing weights after some members had good returns during the week. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all for persevering in very difficult conditions

Gary held a fourth midweek match on Lambwath pond on Wed. 7th. Aug. The weather was a mixture of cloud giving some early rain followed by clearer conditions and a strengthening westerly wind. It was warm with temperatures of 22 degrees. Gary was looking for his fourth win in a row in these matches but at the weigh-in he had to settle for second as Keith claimed top spot with 93 lbs 12 ozs in peg 10. Gary was close, only 3 lbs back with 90 lbs. 8 ozs. in peg 15. Rob took the last place in the winners frame with 80 lbs. 10 ozs. from peg 29. Fourth place went to Alf Corkwell in peg 7 who managed 71 lbs. 13 ozs. In peg 7. Dave Salmon took fifth place with a weight of 64 lbs. In peg 3. Summing up. It was a decent match with plenty of mid weight catches down the list in a field of 16 anglers. Apparently lots of fish were lost by all anglers due to unintentional foul hooking!. Big Ken's summer league continued today on Lambwath pond. The weather was a mixture of high cloud and sunshine with a light southerly breeze, being warm at 23 degrees. The first three hours of the match was fairly quiet with fish seemingly slow to come to the nets. It was during the afternoon when things took off as fish moved into the margins. At the weigh-in Ian took first place with a exceptional weight of 213 lbs from peg 14. He was followed in second by Colin "iv'e got nowt" Smith with 174 lbs. In peg10. Andy kept his brother Ian company in the winners frame with 152 lbs in peg 6 to go third..Excellent weights continued down the list with the first six all topping the 100 lbs. mark! They were Steve Conlan in fourth with 146 lbs in peg 2, fifth was Willy Eyre in peg 28 with 136 lbs from peg 29 and Ian Ireland who weighed 134 lbs from peg 30. Gary held a third match in the last three weeks on Lambwath pond on Wed 31st. July. It was a terrible day weather wise with rain for most of the day, some of which was torrential. It was accompanied by a strongish westerly wind but it remained warm with temperatures around 20 degrees. Despite the weather the results were good with weights better than of late. Gary for the third time in three matches again claimed first place with a very good weight of 144 lbs. 11 ozs. from peg 29. This gave him a cushion of 31 lbs. over Keith in second place who brought 113 lbs. 4 ozs. to the scales from peg 21. The last place in the winners frame went to Rob who weighed 86 lbs. 9 ozs. in peg 7. Fourth place went to JohnLowe with a respectable back up weight of 79 lbs. 2 ozs from peg 30. On Sun. 28th July Falcon A.C. formally known as Travellers of Long Riston held a match on Lambwath pond. The weather was dull and murky with a light north easterly wind giving temperatures of around 17 degrees. Around mid-day a sea mist started to blow in off the sea becoming quite thick during the afternoon making it more murky and very damp. The hot weather of last week appeared a distant memory! At the weigh-in Andy took the honours with a good weight of 124 lbs.8 ozs. in peg 30. Yesterday's match winner also came from this peg. Second was Lee in peg 10 who managed 109 lbs. 12 ozs. Big Ken's summer league continued on the Moat Pond on Sun.28th July. The day started with murky overcast conditions with a light north easterly breeze giving temperatures of around 17 degrees. Around mid-day a sea mist rolled in becoming quite thick during the afternoon making it very dull and damp. Due to previous results on the Moat the question was 'how would it fish'? The answer at the weigh in was 'fairly good' as Willy once more claimed top spot with 99 lbs. 7 ozs. in peg 27. This gave him a comfortable cushion of 34 lbs over Andy in second place with 65 lbs. 4 ozs. from peg 20. Third was brother Ian, only 2 lbs back in peg 3 who managed 62 lbs 13 ozs. Lenny Pulford took fourth place with 42 lbs 12 ozs from peg 1 only 9 ozs in front of Colin Smith who weighed 42 lbs. 3 ozs. from peg 14. The Caravan pond was the venue for the A. A. C. club's latest match. The day started very differently to the recent extremely hot conditions with murky overcast skies and some rain with a strongish north easterly wind blowing down the pond. It was still warm with temperatures around 17 degrees which increased to 20 degrees during the afternoon as the wind eased. Ian a familiar name in the winners list in this club again claimed first place with 62 lbs. 6 ozs. from peg 2. He was followed home in second place by Steve in the adjacent peg 5 who managed 49 lbs which included the days heaviest fish, a 16 lbs. 13 ozs carp. Third place went to Andy in peg 11 with 23 lbs. 15 ozs. Pete Blackman was pushed into fourth place only 6 ozs behind Andy with 23 lbs. 9 ozs. In peg 14. Congratulations to all placed participants.

At the weigh-in Jonathan took first place with 74 lbs. from peg 30 followed closely by Garry only 3 lbs further back with 71 lbs. in the nearby peg 28. Garry caught most of his fish in the last two hours of the match on pellet waggler. Only 2 lbs separated second and third with Andy having to settle for third with 69 lbs. from peg 22. Hull Veterans held a match on the Moat pond on Wed. 24th. July. The day was extremely warm and sultry with temperatures in the mid to high 20's. The light westerly breeze was negated by the trees and hedges around the pond and provided little respite from the sun. Jim came out the winner in peg 7 with a weight of 35 lbs. 14 ozs. Second place went to Bob with 23 lbs. 4 ozs. from peg 27. Stan took third place with 18 lbs. 10 ozs in peg 18. He was followed closely by Rolly Jacobs in fourth position who was only 2 ozs adrift in peg 26 with 18 lbs. 8 ozs. Gary followed up last week's match with a further one on Lambwath pond on Wed.24th July. The weather was very warm with temperatures around the mid to high 20's. With the southerly breeze having little effect on cooling things down.Gary was catching plenty of silver fish and the odd carp in the margins right from the off and it may well have been this method of catching regularly that payed off as he repeated last week's victory today. He finished with 84 lbs. 4 ozs. from peg 9. A similar weight to last week's effort. Second place went to Peter in peg 15 with 71lbs 8 ozs. Steve in peg 6 took third place with 59 lbs.1oz. Just outside the winners frame was Colin Scour in peg 10 who managed 52 lbs. 7ozs. All in all a god match with decent weights down the list despite the hot conditions. 21/07/2019 - Tightliners
Driffield club Tightliners held a match on Lambwath pond on Sunday 21st July. The weather was again very warm with temperatures reaching 23 degrees although the strong westerly wind blowing down the pond caused some problems to anglers fishing the pole out in front. Fishing appeared steady during the early part of the match but increased as fish moved into the margins later in the match. At the weigh-in Darren took first place with a decent weight of 92 lbs. 8 ozs. from peg 10. A.A.C. held their annual open memorial match on Lambwath pond on Sat.20th July. The day was very warm with temperatures around 23 degrees with a increasingly strengthening westerly wind that was pretty much gale force during the second half of the match. Despite a lack of very high weights it was a interestingly close match with two new names featuring in the winners frame. First new name was Melvyn who took first place with 68 lbs from peg 21. The scales were checked carefully to separate the first two with regular member Ian having to settle for second place, only 1 lb. adrift in peg 28 with 67 lbs. Only 4 lbs. covered the top three and another new name took third place with Nick managing 64 lbs in peg 14. All in all a good close match with the very strong wind hampering pole fishing. Hull Angling Centre held a match on the Moat pond on Sat.20th.July. The weather was fair with fast moving clouds giving plenty of sunshine and temperatures af 23 degrees. The very strong westerly wind was to cause problems for some anglers using poles to reach the far bank. At the weigh-in Colin took the honours in peg10 with 53 lbs 14 ozs. Less than 2 lbs adrift in second place was his brother Barry who managed 52 lbs. 1 oz. from peg 4. Last place in the winners frame went to Ian in peg 23 with 44 lbs.13 ozs. Close but just out of the frame was Willy who had 42 lbs.10 ozs in fourth place from peg 26. Gary brought 8, mainly Hornsea anglers to fish a match on the L.H. side of the rope on Lambwath pond on Wed 17th July. The weather was warm around 23 degrees with a south easterly breeze that veered to south west during the afternoon. Fish appeared to be coming to the nets steadily from the start but it was during the afternoon when fish moved into the margins that the action moved up a gear. Gary himself took first place in peg 23 with a decent weight of 88 lbs. followed closely by Keith next door in peg 24 only 2 lbs adrift with 86 lbs. Dave on Gary's other shoulder took third place with 64 lbs. from peg 22. The three winning pegs in a row were at the far end of the pond with Colin Scorah breaking the trend at the car park end with 58 lbs from peg 30 to take fourth place. Summing up, it was a decent match with most anglers finding some fish. Well done to all.

Armstrongs of Beverly held a 'feeder only' match on Lambwath pond on Sun.14th July. It was another warm day with continuous sunshine after the high clouds burned off. The pond was also sheltered from the fresh northerly wind giving temperatures of 20 degrees. I was a little concerned before the match about how the weights would turn out on a 'feeder only' match as a lot of fish have been up in the water during this spell of warm weather. As it turned out it was a very good close match with decent weights. In contrast to yesterday's north bank dominated match the top three all came from the south bank. John came out the winner with 79 lbs. 8 ozs. from peg 28, followed in second by Kevin in the adjacent peg 30 with 74 lbs dead. Third place went to Paul in peg 25 who managed 69 lbs 15 ozs. Dave broke the south bank dominance to finish fourth with 56 lbs 10 ozs in peg 9. Summing up it was a very good close match with better than expected weights. Well done to all participants.

Big Ken's summer league continued on the Caravan pond on Sun 14 th July. Unusually this was the second match of the weekend on this pond. It was another warm sunny day after the high clouds cleared although the very fresh northerly wind had a marked cooling effect on the south bank. We have come to expect good performances from this group of anglers and they did not disappoint this time. Willy a familiar name in the winners enclosure again took first place to record his fifth win in six matches on these ponds with 82 lbs.12 ozs from peg 36. Second was Big Ken himself with 67 lbs. 11 ozs from peg 27. He was followed home by his equally big brother Craig who produced 61 lbs. 8 ozs. from peg 31. Close scrutiny of the scales was required to separate third and fourth but Colin Smith had to settle for fourth, only 4 ozs adrift with 61 lbs. 4 ozs in peg 4. Andy Raper claimed fifth place with 59 lbs 1 oz. from peg 21. All in all a good match with a special mention for Willy for his great winning run and well done to all other anglers.

13/07/2019 - Willerby Caravans
On Sat. 13th July Willerby Caravans fished a match on the Caravan pond. The day started off with overcast conditions that brightened during the morning, giving warm sunshine that was negated by a freshening northerly wind blowing in off the sea.The Caravan pond is always a bit of a unknown quantity for match fishing as matches are rarely held on this pond. At the weigh-in Dylan came out on top in peg 25 with a weight of 59 lbs. Dave took second spot from the adjacent peg 27 with 40 lbs. Liam claimed the final place in the winners frame with 24 lbs. from peg 14. Congratulations to all placed participants.

13/07/2019 - A. A. C.
A.A.C. held their latest summer league match on Lambwath pond on Sat 13th July. The day started overcast but warm, it brightened up as the day progressed giving bright sunshine that was accompanied by a fresh northerly breeze. Temperatures hovered around the 20 degrees mark as this pond is mostly sheltered from sea breezes. Looking over the match as it progressed the north bank appeared to be producing the most fish. At the weigh-in Joe took the honours with a decent weight of 77 lbs. from peg 6 on the north bank. He was followed home by Neil in peg 15 on the same bank with 53 lbs. Steve managed to break the north bank dominance to take third place from the south bank with 48 lbs. from peg 23. Congratulations to all placed participants.

07/07/2019 - Woldsmen A. C.
Driffield club Woldsmen fished a match on Lambwath pond on Sun.7th July. The weather was fair with overcast conditions, clearing later to give some warm sunny spells. The northerly breeze freshened through the afternoon but this pond was sheltered by the trees at the car park end, making for comfortable conditions. As the match progressed it seemed that the high number pegs on the south side of the pond were having more success than the north bank. This proved to be the case at the weigh-in with the first three places all coming from this area. A regular winner on these ponds, Colin again took the honours with a good weight of 129 lbs.13 ozs. from peg 29. This gave him a comfortable cushion of exactly 50 lbs. over Paul in second place who managed 77 lbs. 13 ozs from peg 25. Gary completed the top three in peg 21 with 58 lbs. 11 ozs. Congratulation's to all placed participants.

07/07/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken's summer league continued on Sun 7th July on the Moat Pond which has been a difficult pond for most recently. The weather was again fair with mostly overcast skies and a cool northerly breeze blowing down the pond that increased as the match progressed We all know that the weights on this pond have been poor of late so expectations were not to high. I noted as I moved past the pond during the match that fish were being landed all around the pond. At the weigh-in close scrutiny of the scales was required as only 1 lbs.10 ozs divided the top three. Steve came out top with 57 lbs.12 ozs from peg 20. Andy took second place from peg 14 with 56 lbs. 5 ozs. Lenny was only 3 ozs further back in third place with 56 lbs. 2 ozs. Big Ken was in fourth place with 48 lbs. 7 ozs. from peg 7 with Willy Eyre unable to make it 5 wins in a row on these ponds, having to settle for fifth with 46 lbs 12 ozs in peg 1. All in all a much better match with improved weights spread around the pond with only 10 lbs. covering the first 5 positions. Well done to all anglers today and let's hope this improvement continues.

06/07/2019 - P. Wadswath
Pete Wadsworth held his annual open match on Lambwath pond on Sat. 6th July. The weather was fair with overcast skies that slowly cleared to give plenty of sunny spells with a fresh northerly breeze. During last week plenty of fish have been up in the water due to the warm weather but they were a little slow to come to the nets during the early part of the match. Big Steve Pully finally found some fish to claim first place with a slightly less than average winning weight of 80 lbs. from peg 2. Only 3 lbs. back was Carl who had to settle for second with 77 lbs in peg 24. Steve in the adjacent peg 21 took the last place in the frame with 55 lbs 6 ozs. Summing up, a slightly less than average weights of late but congratulations to all placed participants.

06/07/2019 - Sloop Inn
Beverly club Sloop Inn arrived on Saturday 6th.July to fish a match on the Moat Pond. Speaking to some of the anglers before the match it became apparent that they were aware of the ponds recent history but we're hopeful of a decent match. The day started with overcast skies that cleared as the day progressed to give longish periods of sunshine although the fresh breeze coming in off the sea made it cool in the wind. At the weigh-in the results turned out to be disappointing once more. John took first place with 23 lbs. 8 ozs in peg 3. Gary and Bobby in pegs 1 and 27 respectively tied for second place with 20 lbs. each. All in all a frustrating result again but congratulations to all placed participants.

30/06/2019 - Tristar A.C.
On Sunday, Bridlington club Tristar arrived for a match on the Moat Pond. The weather was warm with fast moving clouds and long spells of sunshine giving a temperature of 22 degrees. Looking back over recent matches on this pond it will be noted that the weights have been less than satisfactory, so the question once again was "how would it fish?. At the weigh-in the answer was again disappointing with Steve claiming first place with a poor weight for a winning one of 21 lbs. from peg 25. Andy was only10 ozs adrift in second place with 20 lbs. 6 ozs. in peg 23. Third place went to Steve who managed 17 lbs. from peg 14. Summing up it was another poor match but the reasons for this escape me!. Congratulations to all placed participants.

Local club A.A.C. held their latest summer league match on the Moat Pond on Saturday 29th. June. The weather was fair with fast moving clouds and plenty of sunshine with temperatures around 22 degrees. It has been well documented that the results of recent matches on this pond have been rather poor so the question was "would it be any better today"?. At the weigh-in the answer was, " not really." Paull took first place with 29 lbs. from peg 19. Chris followed him home in second place from peg 21 with a weight of 25 lbs. The final place in the winners frame went to Tony who managed 22 lbs. 13 ozs. in peg 26. Summing up a close match with disappointing weights but congratulations to all placed participants.

23/06/2019 - Falcon A.C.
Falcon A.C., formerly known as Travellers held a match on Lambwath pond on Sunday. The day were fair with mostly overcast conditions accompanied by a fresh south easterly breeze that did not have much effect on this sheltered area. On the couple of occasions that I had a look at the match the feeling was that the better weights were coming from the north bank. This turned out to be the case at the weigh-in as the first three all came from this bank. First place went to Chris in peg 9 with a very good weight of 136 lbs. An equally good effort from Darren gave him second place with 104 lbs the adjacent peg 7. Not far behind was M. Pacey, sorry I do not have your christian name who took third place with a weight just short of the "ton" at 99 lbs.4 ozs.. All in all not a bad match but a pity that the south bank did not fish a little better but congratulations to all placed participants.i

23/06/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken took a bit of a gamble by choosing to move this week's summer league match onto the Caravan pond. It was a bit of a experiment as this pond is not usually recognised as a match lake. The weather was fair with mainly overcast conditions but the fresh south easterly breeze coming in off the sea made it rather cool on this pond. On the couple of occasions that I looked in on the match during the day things did not appear to be going too well. This proved to be the case at the weigh-in with surprise-surprise for the fourth match in a row on these ponds Willy came out on top with a weight of 74 lbs from peg 12 near the island. This gave him a comfortable cushion of 41 lbs over his nearest rival Craig who managed 33 lbs from peg 37. Ian claimed third place with 22 lbs in peg 17 with Lenny Pulford only 1 lb adrift with 21 lb. In peg 9. Summing up it was a disappointing match but congratulations have to go to Willy for his long winning run.

22/06/2019 - Hull Angling Centre
Geoffrey brought his Hull Angling Centre club to fish a summer league match on Lambwath pond. The weather was a mixture of cloud and sunshine with a fresh south easterly wind that held the temperatures down a little. The ponds are still unpredictable but with some very good anglers in the group we were hopeful of a good match. At the weigh-in it was the familiar name of Willy who again claimed the honours with a very good weight 138 lbs 12 ozs from peg 15.He was followed home by Colin who managed 92 lbs. 8 ozs in peg 2. Barry in peg 9 kept it in the Smith family to finish third with 77 lbs. 13 ozs. in peg 9. Ian in peg 23 was only 14 ozs adrift of third place but had to settle for fourth with 76 lbs 15 ozs. Summing up it was a decent match for most. It will be noted that three of the top four are also members of big Ken Swyers league who feature regularly in the winners frame for that group. Despite featuring in Angling Times this week Geoffrey again failed to trouble the front runners today. Congratulations to all placed participants.

16/06/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken's summer league continued on the Moat Pond on Sunday 16th. June. The weather was overcast with a light south easrerly breeze that gave temperatures of 19 degrees. It has been well documented that recent matches on this pond have been disappointing So the question was "how would it fish for this group of anglers"?. who have an excellent record on these ponds. At the weigh-in the weights showed a big improvement over recent matches. Willy again took first place with a very good weight for the day of 92 lbs.12 ozs. from peg 11 This gave him a comfortable cushion of almost 40 lbs. over Lenny in second place with 53 lbs 13 ozs in peg 7. Ian took third place with 38 lbs. 11 ozs from peg 4. A mention for Craig Swyers who had to settle for fourth b eing only 2 ozs. adrift with 38 lbs.9 ozs. 16/06/2019 - Ron's Rovers
Ron's Rovers arrived for a match on Lambwath pond on Sunday 16th June. The weather was overcast with a light southerly breeze giving temperatures of 19 degrees. The few pleasure anglers that turned out in the rain last week endured slow conditions with only moderate returns. This was also the case in yesterday's match so optimism before the match was limited. At the weigh-in there was little change with less than average weights brought to the scales. Paul took first place in peg 7 with 56 lbs. 8 ozs. followed by Kevin in second with 34 lbs. 10 ozs. in peg 21. Third place went to Pete in peg 30 who managed 32 lbs. 4 ozs. only 6 ozs adrift of third place. All in all a uneventful match with moderate weights. Oh and Pavey went home early again!. 15/06/2019 - A. A. C.
The A.A.C. Club held their latest summer league match on Lambwath pond on Sat 15th June. The weather was overcast and mild with a light south westerly breeze that freshened during the afternoon that made things cooler. We have had very few pleasure anglers during the week almost certainly due to the persistent rain. The ones that have braved the conditions have had to be satisfied with less than average weights so we were unsure how the pond would perform. At the weigh-in it turned out that the weights were still down on what we would expect for this time of the year. Phil took the honours with 56 lbs. 11 ozs. in peg 23. The scales had to be carefully scrutinised to separate first from second with Andy having to settle for second only 4 ozs adrift with 56 lbs 7 ozs. from peg 6. Third place went to Ian in peg 15 with 48 lbs. Summing up, despite the weights being less than hoped for it was a closely fought match with only 9 lbs.seperating the top three. Congratulations to all placed participants.

15/06/2019 - Cannon A.C.
Cannon A.C. arrived to fish a club match on the Moat Pond on Sat. 15th June. The weather was mostly overcast with a light south easterly breeze giving temperatures of 15 degrees. The breeze freshened during the afternoon making it rather cool in the wind. During the week we have had very few anglers due to the persistent rain throughout the week but what may be significant was the fact that most of the anglers struggled to attract the carp.My enquires during the match suggested that things were not going well. This was proved correct at the weigh-in with Wane taking first place with a disappointing weight of 23 lbs.1oz. Sam kept it in the family with 18 lbs. 6 ozs. from peg 7. to finish second. Carl took the final place in the frame with 16 lbs. 4 ozs. in peg 25. Summing up, this was a very disappointing match with nothing of note to report. It is difficult to know what the problem is but we can only hope that things improve soon. Congratulations to all placed participants.

09/06/2019 - Tightliners
Tightliners of Driffield turned up on Sunday 9th. June to fish a club match on Lambwath pond. The weather was fair with mostly cloudy conditions with some warm sunny spells giving temperatures of around 18 degrees. It is a week since record weights were recorded on this pond so the question was "how would it fish"? An indication of the answer may be the fact that pleasure anglers during this week have registered less than average weights. The reduced weights were again evident at the weigh-in. Mick came out tops with 62 lbs. from peg 7. followed in second by Chris who managed 46 lbs. 8 ozs. in peg 12. Ian claimed the final place in the frame with a weight of 33 lbs. 10 ozs from peg 26. 02/06/2019 - K. Swyers
Lambwath lakes record weights!! Big Ken`s summer league continued on Lambwath pond on Sunday 2nd. June. On arrival the weather was fair with a south westerly breeze that freshened during the day giving a temperature of 20 degrees. It was obvious that yesterdays spawning frenzy was still ongoing with lots of fish in the margin reeds. so the question was `would it fish`.? This question was soon answered as fish were being caught from the off and on the occasions that I looked over the bank during the day there were several anglers playing fish. As time was called at the end of the match one angler mentioned to me that there could be some record weights but I don`t think anyone was expecting what was about to be revealed. At the weigh-in Willy took first place with a tremendous weight of 290 lbs.and not to forget the 2 ozs in peg 7. This was not only a pond but a Lambwath lakes all time record so a big well done to Willy. Ian must have been a little disappointed to only finish second with 235 lbs from peg 2, a weight that also broke the old record. Steve claimed third place with another excellent weight of 171 lbs.13 ozs. from peg 22. How many anglers bring 157 lbs.5 o zs to the scales and finish outside the top three? well that was the fate of Ian Ireland who had to settle for fourth place in peg 30. Big Ken claimed to have lost as many fish as he landed to finish with 102 lbs. 15 ozs from peg 9. Lenny Pulford claimed six spot with a decent weight of 98 lbs. 8 ozs. from the unfancied peg 28.. Summing up, this was a tremendous match with record weights and probably one of the best matches ever on these ponds. Congratulations go to Willy for his excellent effort and a really big well done to all other anglers for contributing to a great match. I think this top weight will take a lot of beating if it ever is. It will be interesting to see who achieves it. Are you reading this report Geoffry!

01/06/2019 - A. A. C.
On Saturday 1st. June the A.A.C. Club held there latest summer league match for the first time this season on the Caravan pond. This pond is rarely used for matches so it was a bit of a unknown quantity with no one able to guess how things would turn out.The weather was a mixture of sunshine and clouds with a light westerly breeze. The temperature was a pleasant 20 degrees. Again I did not get too much free time to monitor the match's progress but at the weigh-in the weights were what can be described as middle of the road. Ian proved to be the winner with 47 lbs. from peg 12. he was followed home in second place by Andy who produced 34 in peg 3. Tony was only 3 lbs adrift in peg 15 with 31 lbs to claim third in peg 15. Congratulations to all placed participants. Was the experiment worth it? The A.A.C. Club and Big Ken have a couple of matches on this pond during the season so we may get some idea after these!.

26/05/2019 - Dunston Ship Repairs
Dunston arrived for a works match on Lambwath pond. They were greeted by a westerly breeze with showers some of which were fairly heavy. The match was fished in a series of different weather conditions with the rain as ptedicted clearing away around lunch time to be replaced by fast moving clouds and warm sunny spells due to the increasing wind speed getting up to almost gale force by the end of the match. Again I had a busy day around the ponds so was unable to follow the match in detail but at the weigh-in Jason came out the winner with a very good weight of 112 lbs. from peg 11. This gave him a very comfortable cushion of 47 lbs. over Mark who produced 65 lbs.in peg 6 to take second place. Cliff was only 5 lbs. adrift with 59 lbs 8 ozs in peg 12. to take the last place in the winners frame. It is noted that the three winning weights all came from the north bank of the pond. Congratulations to all placed participants.

19/05/2019 - K. Swyers
Just 24 hours after the Moat Pond failed to produce for the A.A. C. club with a winning weight of only 16 lbs.Big Ken's team arrived on Sunday 19th. May to fish a summer league match on the same pond. How would it fish? that was the question being asked, with good reason. The weather was a little on the miserable side with a easterly breeze bringing a sea fret/mist that enveloped the ponds for most of the day.. As I was doing my rounds I noticed that a few fish were being caught but it was not until well into the match during the afternoon that I enquired of Barry how the match was going? His reply was "I've had a few but Ian a couple of pegs away will have 90 lbs. or so. My reply was "yer right" Barry replied I'm not joking'. WHAT! could this be right after what we have seen over recent weeks. I eagerly awaited the weigh-in and Barry was correct as Ian in peg 7 took first place with a excellent weight of 90 lbs. He was followed in second by Willy with another good effort, producing 63 lbs from peg 20 Colin took third place, coming with a late run of fish to finish with 58 lbs in peg 11. Decent weights continued down the list with Andy Raper in fourth place with 52 lbs. from peg 27. In fifth place was Craig Swyers who managed 47 lbs from peg 1 .A very good match considering recent results on this pond. How do you explain these great variations?. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to the rest of the anglers for proving it can be done. Let's hope the improvement continues!..

19/05/2019 - Fish Trades
Fish Trades fished a club match on Lambwath pond on Sunday 19th. May. They were greeted by the still persistent easterly breeze that was accompanied by a sea mist that swept in from the near by North Sea throughout the match.. The pond had fished reasonably well during the week so things looked promising. I was fairly busy during the match so did not have too much time to see how things were going. On the couple of occasions that I did manage a few minutes observation fish appeared to be coming to the nets steadily. At the weigh-in Richard turned out the winner with a very good effort to register 116 lbs. from peg 20. He was followed home in second place by Neil who was only 6 lbs. adrift with 110 lbs. In peg 30. Justin claimed the last position in the frame landing 93 lbs. from peg 15. John Jones was in fourth place with 64 lbs. In peg 11. Summing up it was a good match for most with some very good weights so congratulations are given to all placed participants.

18/05/2019 - Ace of Clubs
Ace of Clubs arrived for a club match on Lambwath pond on Saturday 18th.May. They were greeted by overcast conditions along with the now seemingly unmovable easterly breeze that left the temperature around the 13 degrees mark. The match started at a sedate pace with nothing to suggest that any records would be broken today. Several of the anglers had 0little in their nets until later in the match when the fish became a little more obliging. At the weigh-in though no big weights were recorded but it proved to be a very close run match with only 3 lbs. covering the top three. Mally in peg 21 came out tops with 49 lbs. dead. He was closely followed by Bob who weighed 45 lbs. 15 ozs. in peg 24. The scales had to be carefully zeroed and scrutinised to separate second from third. The decision was that Rob lost out to finish third only 3 ozs. adrift, how close was that! Congratulations go to all placed participants.

18/05/2019 - A. A. C.
A.A.C. held there latest summer league match on the Moat Pond on Saturday 18th May.The weather was not bad with temperatures around the 13 degrees mark although it felt a little cooler if you were in a peg directly in the easterly breeze. Before the match most anglers were wondering just what would happen due to the fact that the Moat has produced some very disappointing results this Spring!. As the match progressed it was apparent that it was not going well in any part of the pond.At the weigh-in pre-match fears were confirmed with poor weights across the board. Andy managed to claim first place with 16 lbs. from peg 10. with Chris at the opposite end of the pond in peg 27 taking second place with 14 lbs. Graham claimed the last place in the frame managing 13 lbs. from peg 7. I have no explanation why this pond is performing so poorly and can only hope that it will improve shortly. Well done to all anglers for sticking it out with very little reward and congratulations to all placed participants.

12/05/2019 - Goat and Compass A.C.
Last Sunday 12th. May Goat and Compass fished a match on Lambwath pond. Once again the weather was dry with the now familiar easterly wind. When will we get a change of wind direction? It became clear as the match progressed that peg 21 was producing plenty of fish whilst the rest of the pond was fishing steadily. At the weigh-in, as suspected peg 21 took the honours with Steve finishing just short of the predicted "ton" with a still commendable 97 lbs. He had a massive advantage of 54 lbs over Wayne who managed 43 lbs. from peg 11 to claim second place. Third place went to Mark in peg 20 who put 39 lbs.in the scales net. Congratulations to Steve for an outstanding performance and well done to all placed participants.

11/05/2019 - Hull Angling Centre
Geoffrey arrived with his Hull Angling Club to fish a match on the Moat Pond. Readers of this match report column with know that this pond has produced poor results so far this Spring so I Was hoping that today would show some improvement. The weather was cool with the persistent easterly wind still with us. The early part of the match started slowly for many of the anglers and it soon became obvious that the high peg numbers at the west end of the pond where the wind was blowing into were doing better. This proved to be the case at the weigh-in as the three top weights all came from this area. The match was won by Barry in peg 30 who produced a acceptable weight of 61lbs. He was followed home in second place by Kevin with 52 lbs. from peg 2. The scales needed close scrutiny to separate third place from fourth as Ian took third place with 37 lbs. 8 ozs. only 4 ozs better than Lenny Pulford who had to settle for fourth with 37 lbs 4 ozs from the less productive eastern end of the pond in peg 7. Unfortunately I still cannot find a place in the winners frame for the leader of the club! A definite improvement in match weights but still some anglers struggled. Let's hope the pond continues to improve as the season progresses. Congratulations to all placed participants.

11/05/2019 - Willows A.C.
Willows angling club arrived for a match on Lambwath pond on Saturday 11th. May. They were greeted by dry weather but still with the easterly wind that has pestered us for some time now. The match progressed with little of note to report although it did appear that no records would be beaten today. This proved to be correct at the weigh-in with Greg taking first place with 51 lbs from peg 26. He was followed closely in second place by Mike who was only 4 lbs. adrift with 47 lbs. In peg 8. Only 7 lbs. covered the top three as Mally took the last place in the frame with 44 lbs. from peg 14. Fourth place was claimed by Sean Coggle who managed 38 lbs. In peg 11. All in all not a day of big weights but a closely contested match with no one running away with it. Congratulations to all placed participants.

05/05/2019 - Catchmore A.C.
Catchmore A. C. Fished a club match on the Moat Pond on Sunday. The weather was a big improvement on yesterday being overcast with a much reduced northerly wind speed but was still coolish with a temperature of 10 degrees. Unfortunately I can not report improved catches for the pond. As the match progressed it became obvious that no records would be broken today. This proved to be the case at the weigh in with very disappointing weights across the board and unfortunately several anglers failed to catch a single fish Here I have to apologise to the winners for not having their full names. First place was claimed by Tel with a low winning weight of 23 lbs.6 ozs. from peg 6. Mike followed him home in second with 12 lbs. 7 ozs. from the adjacent peg 4. John Boy was only 7 ozs. adrift in third place with 12 dead in peg 28. Summing up, it was again a disappointing match with few fish brought to the scales but congratulations to the winners who managed to scrape together a few fish and well done to the rest for sticking it out.

A late report of Big Ken's latest summer league match fished on Lambwath pond. I remember that it was dry but there was a cold easterly wind that did not help, but apart from that I cannot remember much about how the match developed. At the weigh-in, fittingly it was Ken himself that took the honours with a excellent catch of 124 lbs. from peg 2 on the sheltered East end bank. He was followed home in second place by Willy who came with a late run of fish in the last couple of hours after struggling in the early part of the match to finish with a very acceptable weight of 99 lbs. from peg 21. Colin took the final place in the frame with 90 lbs. from peg 29. Craig was a further 3 lbs back with 87 lbs. from peg 24 giving the Swyers family two positions in the top four. All in all a decent match so congratulations to all placed participants with good efforts from the rest of the members.

04/05/2019 - A. A. C.
A.A.C. held a summer league match on Lambwath pond today Saturday. The weather as forecast was awful with hail and sleat squalls travelling quickly down the coast driven by a strong north east wind. The periods between the squalls were bright and sunny but the wind held the temperature down to 6 degrees. The anglers on the south bank had a tough time of it with the weather in there faces whilst the north bank was warm and comfortable being sheltered from the elements. Whether the conditions were a factor I don't know but the three winning weights all came from the sheltered side. I believe a lot of the fish were caught up in the water on pellet waggler in the calmer water of the north side. This method was not really an option on the rough south side. At the weigh-in Ian took the honours with a good weight of 82 lbs. from peg 11. He was followed closely by Neil in second who was only 4 lbs. adrift in the adjacent peg 10 with 78 lbs. Paul took the final position in the frame with 48 lbs. In peg 15. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all other anglers for persevering in difficult conditions.

28/04/2019 - K. Swyers
One of big Ken's early summer league matches was held this Sunday on Lambwath pond. The weather at the start of the match was overcast with a coolish north easterly breeze making it cool for the anglers on the south bank. It was a different situation on the north bank and the car park end of the pond which was much warmer as these areas are sheltered by the trees at that end. Around lunch time the skies cleared to give a bright sunny afternoon that became surprisingly warm out of the breeze. From this point on the match was fished in very comfortable conditions. At the weigh-in Craig took the honours with a excellent weight of 118 lbs 8 ozs. In peg 14. He was followed by Andy in peg 28 with another good effort to weigh 97 lbs. 15 ozs. Third place was claimed by Colin in peg 12 with 56 lbs. 7 ozs. Fourth place went to Lenny Pulford who was only a couple of lbs. shy of Colin's weight with 54 lbs.1oz. from peg 24 which he claimed was a poor peg and is hoping to get a good draw soon. Good luck in that one Len!!. Congratulations to all placed participants. See you all next Sunday.

27/04/2019 - Arronbrook A. C.
Arronbrook held a small match on Lambwath pond on Saturday using just the L.H. side of the rope. Despite a very poor weather forecast the match started in reasonable conditions being cloudy with a moderate south westerly breeze. Fish appeared to be coming to the nets a little better than slowly and there was a pattern beginning to form as a couple of anglers were catching more regularly than the others giving an indication of where the winners may come from. Around lunch time the weather deteriated as the wind increased and the clouds became heavier and threatening. The rain soon arrived with heavy downpours for the rest of the match making for miserable conditions to the end. Steve won the match with a decent weight of 80 lbs 10 ozs. from peg 21. This exactly doubled Marks 40 lbs 11 ozs. in second place from peg 25. The scales had to be closely scrutinised to separate second from third with Ed. pushed into third place only 4 ozs. adrift with 40 lbs. 7 ozs. from peg 28. Steve Morris took fourth place in peg 19 with a weight of 25 lbs. 10 ozs. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to everyone for sticking it out in very wet conditions.

21/04/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken ran a non league match on the Moat Pond on Sunday. The weather on arrival and throughout the match was perfect with clear blue skies and bright warm sunshine after a little early mist. The wind remained light but was still blowing off the sea. The Moat has not fished well at all for the last 3 or 4 weeks but trying to find a reason is not easy. It may be due to the persistent high pressure but that is only speculation on my part and not a excuse. It became clear after the first hour or so that it was going to be hard going again and so it proved at the weigh in. Big Ken came out tops with a weight of only 18 lbs 10 ozs. from peg 30. Ian was second only 2 lbs. In areas with 16 lbs. 10 ozs. In peg 7. Lenny followed in third with 15 lbs 3 ozs. from peg 12. Barry Weal managed fourth with a weight of 12 lbs 8 ozs. from peg 1. Once again a poor match for what ever reason. Decent sized Carp were seen in some areas of the pond cruising about on the surface but apparently not interested in feeding. Let's hope that things improve soon and the fish become more obliging. Congratulations to all anglers for sticking it out with very little reward.

20/04/2019 - A. A. C.
A.A.C. held a early summer league match on the Moat Pond on Saturday. The weather conditions remained as they have been for some time now with high pressure stuck over us giving nice clear blue skies and bright sunshine but with a nagging easterly wind that was cold if you were out of the sheltered areas. Soon after the start it became obvious that no records would be broken today and so it proved at the weigh in with disappointing results much in line with recent matches on this pond. I will not try to guess the reasons for the poor results but hope that things soon improve. Gary took first place with 25 lbs. from peg 27 followed by Paul who scraped together 11 lbs. In peg 12. Third place was claimed by Steve in peg 2 who managed 10 lbs. 6 ozs. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to the rest for persevering with little return.

14/04/2019 - Tom Conlan memorial
Big Ken held a match on Lambwath pond on Sunday in memory of Tommy Conlan, a long time member of the group who passed away recently. They were greeted by conditions that have plagued us for some time now being dry with sun and clouds but with the strong extremely cold easterly wind that again made for uncomfortable and difficult fishing conditions. Fish were slow to feed in the early part of the match and never really took off for anyone. Reasonable weights for the conditions were achieved by several anglers with only 17 lbs. seperating the winner and fifth place. Andy was the winner with close to 50 lbs. From peg 10. He was followed by family member Ian who claimed second from peg 3 with a weight of 45 lbs. Matty took third place with 41 lbs. from peg 26. Alan Tunley claimed 4th position with 37 lbs. from peg 22, followed by Les Harrison in fifth with 33 lbs. In peg 25. Not a bad match considering the conditions. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to the rest of the anglers for sticking it out to the end. To finish R.I.P. TOM. A PLEASURE TO HAVE KNOWN YOU. Adrian.

14/04/2019 - Travellers A.C.
Darren brought his Travellers club to fish their first summer league match on the Moat Pond. The weather was as it has been for some time now. It was clear with a mixture of cloud and sunshine but still we had the persistent, strong, cold easterly wind that made for very uncomfortable conditions. Unfortunately it turned out to be a very disappointing match with not a lot to report as the fish did not show from start to finish. Lee was probably surprised to find that he had won the match with a modest weight of 15 lbs. although on the day it turned out to be good weight. Chris took second place with 9 lbs from peg 9 followed by Phil in peg 7 with 7 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to everyone for sticking it out in difficult conditions. Sorry for the poor fishing lads!!.

13/04/2019 - S. Abbott
Steve Abbott ran a match on our Lambwath pond today. They were greeted by the remnants of a overnight frost, it was dry with plenty of sunshine but with a strongish easterly wind making it very cold if you were directly in the wind. Luckily a lot of Lambwath pond was sheltered by the trees at the car park end of the pond making life more comfortable for most of the anglers. In the early part of the match the fish were very slow to come to the nets and not many people would have been predicting a large winning weight. How wrong this proved to be at the weigh in as Big Steve comfortably took the honours with a excellent weight of 156 lbs from peg 11. This exactly doubled the 78 lbs that Steve brought to the scales to finish second from peg 9. Another Steve was in third position with 65 lbs 8 ozs from the other side of the pond in peg 29. Interestingly the winning weight was almost completely made up of fish caught up in the water but this time on the pole as against last week's match which was won fishing shallow on the pellet waggler method. Take a note anglers for future reference. Congratulations to Steve Pulley for a great effort and well done to the other placed participants.

07/04/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken had a change of venues for his non league match choosing the Tench Pond for a change. The weather war dry and overcast with a cold north easterly wind blowing down the pond. In the early part of the match small Rudd were the order of the day coming to the nets ''one a chuck''. After a few carp started to show towards the bottom of the pond it became obvious that Rudd were never going to win the match with some anglers deciding to sit it out for carp to have a chance of winning the match. It turned out that most of the bigger fish were down at the bottom end of the pond with very few venturing into the early number pegs. Craig came out on top with close to 45 lbs. From peg 10. Andy next door in peg 11 weighed 37 lbs to take second. The exception was Colin in peg 3 who managed 27 lbs to finish third. Back to the higher number pegs where Lenny took fourth place in peg 8 with 25 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants.'

07/04/2019 - Ron's Rovers
Ron's Rovers fished match on Lambwath pond on Sunday. In common with all the other matches fished over the weekend they were faced with dry, overcast conditions but troubled by the cold north easterly wind. Conditions were difficult away from the sheltered areas at the car park end of the pond with several anglers struggling to put any fish in the nets. At the weigh in Alan took the honours with close to 43 lbs. from peg 9. He was followed by Dave, only 2 lbs back in second place with almost 41 lbs from peg 30. Nigel took third place from peg 26 with 23 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all other anglers for sticking it out with the exception of Pavvy who once again disappeared early!!.

06/04/2019 - A. A. C.
A. A. C. Fished their first summer league match on Lambwath Pond on Saturday. The weather was anything but summer like being dry but with a cold north easterly wind and overcast conditions. There was some shelter from the cold wind from the trees at the car park end of the pond. The results at the weigh - in were surprisingly good considering the weather during the run up to and during the match The winner was Tony with a excellent weight of 94 lbs. from peg 29. He was followed home by Graham from the adjacent peg 28 with 70 lbs. The final position in the frame was claimed by Ian who managed 50 lbs from peg 9. Tony and Graham found plenty of success with the pellet wagler method up in the water which is a method not associated with early season cold weather but it proved to work on the day. All in all a decent first up match with some decent weights. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all other anglers for enduring the cold conditions.

06/04/2019 - D. Brooks
Dave Brooks group arrived on Saturday for a winter league match on the Moat Pond. They were greeted by dry but very cold conditions due to the north easterly wind coming in off the nearby North Sea. It soon became obvious that no records would be broken today as the fish appeared very slow to come to the nets. At the weigh in it was Sean/Shaun who came out tops with a decent weight for the day of 39 lbs from peg 10. At this point I have to give credit to GEOFF the self proclaimed best angler in the area who put in a good effort to take second place from peg 21 with 35 lbs, one of his better results at this venue. Dave himself took third place with a weight of 27 lbs from peg 2. I understand that Dave's catch was made up of mostly silver fish and that is very good angling when the carp are not showing. I have to apologise to the winner Sean/ Shaun as I do not have his surname. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to the rest of the anglers for sticking it out with some experiencing very few bites and even less fish.

Big Ken's winter league continued on Lambwath pond on Sunday. They were greeted by very cold conditions almost completely due to the gale force winds that made for very difficult conditions throughout the match. It proved at the weigh in that most of the anglers coped very well with very good weights down the list. Craig came out tops on this occasion with a excellent 91 lbs. from peg 8. Lenny was only 6 lbs. adrift in second place with 85 lbs. from the adjacent peg 10. Ian took the last place in the frame with almost 72 lbs. from peg 28. Good weights continued down the list with Barry Weal in forth place with 65 lbs. from peg 23, he was followed in fifth position by Colin Smith in peg 30 with 54 lbs. Ken Swyers managed 52 lbs from peg 14. to take sixth place, most of his catch came in the last hour or so as he changed his tactics to fishing up in the water. Another successful match for this group of anglers despite the conditions. It was also good to see from the peg numbers that the fish were spread around the pond and not shouled up in a couple of areas. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to the rest of the anglers for doing well in less than helpful conditions.

10/03/2019 - K. Swyers
Big Ken's team turned up for a winter league match on Lambwath pond. They were greeted with very wet under foot conditions after recent heavy rain. It was cold with temperatures around 5 degrees with very little wind. The wind increased as the match went on becoming gale force at times when the squalls of rain and hail passed through making for very difficult and uncomfortable conditions for the remainder of the match. The fish were slow to show during the early part of the match but became more obliging later in the match. The weights at the scales were good for the conditions and time of year. Ian had a good day taking first place with a excellent weight of 66 lbs. from peg 14. Big Ken was only 4 lbs. adrift with 62 lbs. from peg 25. Andy took the last position in the frame with 44 lbs from peg 11 making it two in the first three for the Raper family. Barry Weal took fourth position in peg 30 with 38 lbs, most of his catch was taken in the last couple of hours. Summing up, it was a foul day for the most part but the weights were very acceptable. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all other anglers for sticking it out in unfavourable conditions. Well done.

03/03/2019 - Ron`s Rovers
Ron`s Rovers turned up to fish a match on Lambwath Pond on Sunday. Despite a poor weather forecast for later in the day the match started in decent conditions with no overnight frost. There was a light south westerly breeze with overcast skies and temperatures around 7/8 degrees. The fish appeared a little shy in the early part of the match but things picked up later on. The rain began to fall around midday but was not too heavy until the end of the match when the heavens opened making packing up and the weigh-in a miserable experience. The happiest man at the end was Mally who took the honours with a good weight of 59 lbs from peg 11. This gave him a comfortable cushion of 27 lbs. over Keith who had 32 lbs. from peg 8. Mike took third place with 22 lbs. from peg 7. It is interesting to note that the three winning weights all came from the low number pegs on the north bank. This was in complete contrast to Saturday`s match when the four top weights all came from the high number pegs on the south bank. Congratulations to all placed participants.

02/03/2019 - Hull Angling Centre
Geoffry brought his Hull Angling Centre club to fish a winter league match on Lambwath pond. At the start the weather was overcast with the temperature around 8 degrees, it became a little warmer as the sun came out during the match but became cooler as the wind increased later in the afternoon. It became obvious during the match that most of the fish were being caught on the southern bank and as it turned out the top four weights came from the high number pegs. The scales required very close scrutiny to separate first and second place, eventually putting Ian in first place with 55lbs 3ozs, edging out Lenny by 2 ozs who finished with 55 lbs. 1 oz. How close was that? Colin followed in third position with 40 lbs. from peg 25. Kev. Carter took fourth place in peg 29 with 30 lbs. 9 ozs. The first three names with be familiar to readers as featuring regularly in Big Ken`s successful summer league last season. All in all not a bad match with decent weights for this time of the year Better luck next time Geoff!!.

02/03/2019 - A. A. C.
A.A.C. held a pre- league "knock up" match on the moat using only pegs 17 to 30. These pegs on the car park end bank and down the road side were sheltered from the cool south west breeze, becoming quite warm as the sun came out. At the weigh in Tony scaled a decent weight of 46 lbs which proved more than enough to take the honours with a cushion of 28 lbs over Joe who finish in second with almost 18 lbs .Andy took third with 12 lbs from peg 21..Summing up it was not a bad winning weight for this time of the year but the back up weights were a bit down on what was hoped for. Things should improve as the Spring arrives!.

26/02/2019 - Willows A.C.
Willows club arrived to fish a small match on the L. H. side of the rope on Lambwath pond. Again there was a overnight frost but the sun soon burned it off leaving a brilliant day with continuous warm sunshine and no wind. The temperatures reached 16.5 degrees again making perfect conditions for fishing! Well yes, but where were the fish??. A good question as Dave won the match with a decent carp late in the match to scrape together 14 lbs from peg 30. Mally was second with 9 lbs 9 ozs. next door in peg 29, followed closely by Keith with 9 lbs in peg 27. All in all a disappointing match with very few fish caught after a week of excellent weather.

26/02/2019 - G. Fairfield
Gary`s small group fished their match on the R. H. side of the rope on Lambwath pond directly opposite Willows club. As stated in the previous report the conditions were superb with very warm sunshine and no wind. It looked good for plenty of fish but that is not how it turned out. The match was won by Gary who managed 32 lbs from peg 16 followed by Pete who brought 15 lbs to the scales from peg 9. Colin was third with 13 lbs from peg 8. Only 8 ozs behind was Alan Darcy with 12 lbs. 8 ozs. in peg 7. Summing up, the weights were slightly better than Willow`s on the other side of the pond but there is not much to say after that. Lets hope things improve for the weekend!.

Geoff brought 9 anglers to fish a match on Lambwath pond. This was our first match since the 2nd. January. The weather for the middle of February was very good although the fresh south westerly wind made things a little cooler on the north bank of the pond. To compensate for the less favourable conditions they were rewarded with the majority of the fish, in fact three of the top four weights came from this bank. It became obvious that a close contest was developing between Karl and Steve at opposite ends of the pond with no one sure who would take first place. At the weigh in Karl came out tops with 53 lbs. from peg 7 followed by Steve with 45 lbs from peg 14. Spitting the north bank domination was Garry in peg 30 who weighed in with 34 lbs.to take third place. We had to go back to the north side where Steve Abbott was a close fourth in peg 9 with 32 lbs. All in all a good close match with decent weights for the time of the year.

02/01/2019 - S. Pulford
Big Steve Pully organised a match on the Moat pond yesterday. A turn out of 15 anglers was a good number for this time of the year. On arrival the weather was very calm with overcast conditions and coolish temperatures of 7/8 degrees. It is a while since we had a match on the Moat and pleasure anglers have been thin on the ground so we were not sure how the pond would fish. As it turned out the weights proved to be pretty good for this middle winter period although some anglers found the fish hard to come by. Dave won the match with 52 lbs. from peg 2 fishing pole across to the far bank. He was followed in second by Matty fishing a similar method from the adjacent peg 4. with a weight of 43 lbs. The bulk of their nets were made up of 1 to 2 lbs stocky`s with the odd better fish. Gary in third position from peg 28 had a bag of mostly bigger fish for 39 lbs. Steve Sexton was in fourth place managing 20 lbs from peg 14. All in all a decent match for the winter so congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all for a good turn out.

30/12/2018 - J. Parker
John Parker and four other anglers had a rover match on Lambwath pond yesterday. The weather was favourable on arrival with overcast conditions with but very little breeze and mild temperatures of 9/10 degrees. Things improved more during the afternoon as the sun came out giving the feeling of a pleasant Spring day. Unfortunately the fish were not very obliging. John won the match fishing pole and maggot, putting together a net of 14 lbs of silver fish from peg 6. Neil in peg 2 fished the same method and managed 8 lbs 7 ozs of silvers to finish second. Keith or Kevin? sorry chose a different method fishing maggot feeder all day hoping for a couple of bigger fish that didn`t really pay off as he only managed one carp of 6 lbs. late in the match to finish third from peg 28. Only two carp were caught all day!!. Congratulations to all placed participants.

26/12/2018 - K. Swyers
"Big Ken`s" boxing day match on Lambwath pond only attracted 5 anglers. The day started rather dreary with overcast and misty conditions but with temperatures of a mild 8 degrees C. the skies cleared a little during the afternoon to give some weak sunshine. There was a very light westerly breeze throughout the day. It seems that the pond is now in winter mode with very few carp showing. Most of the anglers had plenty of bites, landing decent numbers of silver fish, mostly Roach, Perch and a few Skimmers. Steve took first place with 20 lbs 12 ozs from peg 9 followed closely by Lenny in second with 19 lbs 8 ozs in peg 18. Colin was only 2 lbs back in peg 27 with 17 lbs. 8 ozs. Overall a close match with no large fish being caught hence the low winter like weights. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all contestants.

23/12/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken turned up for a match on Lambwath pond today to be greeted by steady and persistent rain that did nothing to improve the already saturated conditions underfoot. The rain fell for the duration of the match only easing for a while at the weigh in. Luckily there was no wind that really would have made conditions difficult. Due to the poor weather the turn out was disappointing with only 5 anglers braving the elements. The question was `how would the pond fish`?. After yesterday`s massive winning weight we were hoping for plenty of fish. Unfortunately things did not turn out as hoped with only 2 anglers bothering to weigh in. Colin took first place with a average winter weight of 28 lbs. from peg 27 followed by Andy in second with 11 lbs from peg 10. The carp failed to show today. Colin had one with the bulk of his catch being skimmers, roach and perch. Andy managed one with silvers making up the rest of his bag. Congratulations to the winners and well done to the rest for sitting it out to the end of a miserable day. Let`s hope for better on Boxing Day.

22/12/2018 - S Abbott
Steve Abbott brought 13 anglers to fish a rare winter match on Lambwath pond. The weather was reasonable for this time of the year with a mixture of sun and clouds but with a coolish westerly breeze. Conditions underfoot were different being wet and muddy after weeks of heavy rain. How would the pond fish after few pleasure anglers and no matches for a while? Well big Steve Pully will say it was excellent as he fished hard pellet to take first place with a tremendous weight of 183 lbs. from Peg 14. Unfortunately the rest of the pond fished more winter like with Mick Cook in second place with 31 lbs. from Peg 21. Steve Abbott was only one pound further back with 30 lbs. from Peg 6. The picture this match painted was that the fish are shoaled up in certain areas like most winters and the draw bag is a big factor in whether you are on the fish or not. Having said that if you are lucky enough to have the fish in front of you, you still have to get them out, so well done Pully on a great effort. Congratulations to all placed participants and better luck next time to the anglers not drawn on the fish. It is hard to estimate when this weight will be beaten but I would suggest it won`t be till next summer and then it will take a good effort to top it. Lets see how "Big Ken`s" men do tomorrow!.

08/12/2018 - S. Abbott
Steve assembled a group of 12 anglers for a non league match on the moat. They were greeted by bright dry conditions but experienced a west/north westerly gale that would make this usual pole venue difficult to operate this method where the cross wind was at it`s worst. In these pegs most anglers resorted to a small feeder on the far bank. As in line with the match on Lambwath pond it was difficult to estimate what the pond would fish like. Again the weights were a little disappointing, being maybe a little below expectations. Mick won the match with 33lbs from peg 3 closely followed by Steve only 1 lbs in areas with 32 lbs from peg 17. Andy took third with 21 lbs from the fancied peg 7. Again the weights would suggest that winter has arrived and that the big weights of the summer are a distant memory.

1st Moat 3 M. Cook 33 lbs.
2nd Moat 17 S. Hewitt 32 lbs.
3rd Moat 7 A. Binks 21 lbs.

13/11/2018 - Gary Fairfield
Gary returned with his Hornsea friends for a further match on Lambwath pond after last weeks reasonable weights for this time of the year. They again only used the left hand side of the dividing rope. The anglers were greeted by very mild conditions with a fresh south westerly wind. Unfortunately I do not have the peg numbers of the winning anglers but last weeks winner, Colin again took first place with 55 lbs which was a 6 lbs. improvement on last weeks effort. This gave him a clear 25 lbs advantage over Rod who claimed the runner up position with 30 lbs. Gary claimed the final position in the frame with 28 lbs. only 2 lbs adrift of second. Well done to all placed participants.

1st Lambwath ? C. Storrer 55 lbs.
2nd Lambwath ? R. Teale 30 lbs.
3rd Lambwath ? G. Fairfield 28 lbs.

13/11/2018 - Willows A.C
Mally Wright brought a section of Willows club anglers to fish a small match on Lambwath pond. The weather was good for the time of the year, it was dry with sunshine and a fresh to strong south westerly wind for the whole day. It was decided to run a "rover match" and it would appear that Mike made a good choice as he won the match with a very good weight of 71 lbs from peg 26. Before the weigh-in Dave thought he had a good chance of winning but he had to settle for the runner-up position with 62 lbs, only 9 lbs adrift from peg 30. Dave did loose a couple of fish though!!. Mally took the final position in the frame with 43 lbs from peg 7. All in all a good match with excellent weights for the middle of November. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to the rest of the party.

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Lambwath 26 M. Reed 71 lbs 8 ozs
2nd Lambwath 30 D.Wright 62 lbs 10 ozs
3rd Lambwath 7 M. Thompson 43 lbs 3 ozs

10/11/2018 - J. Parker
John Parker brought his Flow-Star members to fish a out of season match on Lambwath pond. The overnight conditions of gale force winds and persistent rain did not bode well but surprisingly the morning was very pleasant with little wind and warm sunshine. Things deteriorated during the afternoon with increased cloud and a freshening wind making for colder conditions. Despite this decent weights were brought to the scales for the time of the year. It was also a competitive match with only 8 lbs separating the top three. Top spot was claimed by K. Parker with 46 lbs. Dave Parker won last weeks match on this same pond fishing with Hygena but had to settle for second place this time out but was only 3 lbs adrift. A further 5 lbs back was J. Wainwright in third with 38 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all other competitors who fish in winter conditions.

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Lambwath 27 K. Palmer 45 lbs 12 ozs.
2nd Lambwath 12 D. Parker 43 lbs 9 ozs.
3rd Lambwath 29 J. Wainwright 38 lbs 2 ozs.

07/11/2018 - Garry Fairfield
Garry Fairfield brought a few of his Hornsea angling friends to fish a match on Lambwath pond where they occupied just the L. H. side of the dividing rope. The conditions were cool with a strong south westerly wind. The fish appeared to be unwilling players during the first half of the match but showed a little more interest during the afternoon. I am unaware of the winning peg numbers but Colin took first place with49 lbs. He was followed home by John with a weight of 35 lbs 8 ozs. The first three was completed by Pete who brought 28 lbs.12 ozs to the scales. Not a bad effort for the time of year as the weather remains mild. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all anglers.

3rd Lambwath ? P. Wardill 28 lbs. 12ozs.

03/11/2018 - Hygena A. C.
Hygena held a match on our Lambwath pond today. On arrival the sun was shining with a warmish south westerly light to fresh breeze. During the match the wind increased to strong with full cloud cover becoming rather cold for the rest of the match. At the weigh in it became obvious that the wind had pushed most of the fish to the car park end of the pond where Dave won the match with a good weight for the time of year of 74 lbs. He had a comfortable cushion of 30 lbs. over T. Wheater in second with 43 lbs. who was closely followed by Keith McNee in third with a weight of 38 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all other members for sticking it out in areas with not a lot of fish showing.

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Lambwath 30 D. Parker 74 lbs. 8 ozs.

03/11/2018 - A. A. C.
A.A.C. held a small match on our complex on Saturday. During the week discussions were held about the poor weather forecast and the expected small turn out. The decision was to use the Tench pond for a change. The thought was more all round shelter and that it could accommodate the expected turn out. The Tench pond ,due to it`s size is rarely used for matches but what a good choice it turned out to be for some!. Wane won the match with a excellent weight of 74 lbs. closely followed in second by Andy with 73 lbs. Phil was again in the frame with 46 lbs. to take third place. As with the match on Lambwath all the leading weights came from the eastern end of the pond where the wind had apparently concentrated the majority of the fish. Congratulations to all placed participants.

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Tench 4 W. Pickup 73 lbs. 14 ozs.
2nd Tench 2 A. Holt 73 lbs. 4 ozs.
3rd Tench 6 P. Smalley 46 lbs. 10 ozs.

28/10/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken held one of his early winter league matches on Lambwath pond this weekend. The weather today was an improvement on yesterday but a strong easterly wind and early hail and rain squalls made for a cold day. Lambwath pond though appeared to have it`s own climate as the trees to the North and East of the pond created a windbreak and as the skies cleared and the sun came out the anglers enjoyed very pleasant conditions. The weights were also very good for the time of year with Ken winning his own match with a weight of 116 lbs. followed home by colin with 82 lbs with Lenny only 4 lbs adrift in 3rd. John Riley did well to finish fourth with 68 lbs from peg 12 just managing to keep Craig Swyers at arms length in 5th with 65 lbs in peg 10. All in all a good match with congratulations going to all placed participants and well done to all members.

27/10/2018 - Willows A.C.
Willows A.C. fished one of there early winter league matches on Lambwath pond on Saturday. They only fished the northern bank of the pond to try to avoid as much of the appalling weather as possible. With gale force north easterly winds and lots of rain, conditions were not easy. S. Phillips won the match with a acceptable weight of 88 lbs. followed by K. Campion with 55 lbs. in second. Kev. Lazell completed the winners frame with 49 lbs 8 ozs. D. Bradly was fourth with 45 lbs. from Peg 7. Congratulations go to all placed participants and well done to all anglers for sticking it out in difficult conditions.

20/10/2018 - A. A. C.
A.A.C. having completed their summer league matches arranged a Knock-up on Lambwath pond using only one side of the rope. The first two places were taken by anglers who have been regulars in the winners frame this season. Pete the elder of the Blackman duo took the honours this time with a reasonable weight for the time of year with 65 lbs. Phil only managed second place this time, with 43 lbs., what happened Phil?!. After his name has been missing from the winners enclosure for some time Tony followed Phil home closely in third place this time out with a weight of 41 lbs. Well done to all placed participants.

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Lambwath 14 P. Blackman 65 lbs.
2nd Lambwath 8 P. Smalley 43 lbs.
3rd Lambwath 7 T. Pickup 41 lbs.

14/10/2018 - Armstrongs A. C.
Armstrongs fished a re-arranged match on our Lambwath lake. The original match was postponed due to a very poor weather forecast for the up coming date although the actual day proved to be very pleasant. In complete contrast the anglers were greeted by gale/storm force winds and heavy rain today. In hindsight not a good decision. Despite the terrible conditions the anglers performed very well bringing some good weights to the scales. Dave comfortably topped the 100 lbs. mark to win the match followed by Paul with 98 lbs. in second with Richard taking the final position in the frame with 62 lbs. John Simpson was a close fourth with 58 lbs. from peg 25 The lowest weight in the match was 28 lbs. so taking everything into consideration a decent match was had. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to all competitors for completing the match despite the difficult conditions

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Lambwath 8 D. Fischer 111 lbs 3 ozs.

13/10/2018 - A. A. C.
A. A. C. fished their latest league match on the Moat pond and were greeted by contrasting weather conditions. The air temperature rose to 24 degrees plus centigrade which made for comfortable conditions. The down side was the gale/storm force south/westerly winds that made for very difficult fishing conditions. It is not clear whether these conditions had any effect on the fish but they were reluctant to come to the baits until late in the match, hence the below par weights. Phil returned to winning ways after missing a couple of matches, he was followed in second place by Ian who will be pleased to see his name in the frame again. Joe took third place to claim the last pay-out position. Well done to all members for battling to the end despite the wind.

13/10/2018 - Hygena A. C.
Hygena A. C. turned up for their match on Lambwath pond to find un- seasonable temperatures of 24 degrees plus, this was countered by extremely strong gale to storm force south westerly winds that coupled with the open setting of the pond made for difficult conditions. Despite this all anglers battled to the end. The result was a tie for first place. The first time we have had a tie this season with both anglers bringing a creditable 53 pounds to the scales. Not far behind in third was Dave with 50 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants and well done to the rest for battling to the end in difficult conditions.

30/09/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken has two matches left of his summer league but this was his last one on our complex and what a finale they put on. But did we expect anything else?. All through the season this group of anglers have consistently out performed all other matches. Congratulations go to Willy who not for the first time this year took the honours with a terrific weight of 212 lbs. This gave him a comfortable cushion of 70 lbs. over Colin in second place with 141 lbs. Ian was only 10 lbs. further back in third with 131 lbs. Big Ken himself took fourth with 111 lbs from Peg 3. closely followed by Neil Thomson in fifth with 105 lbs from Peg 21. Any of these weights would have won many a match on these ponds over the season so well done to all participants who took part over the whole series. Hope to see you all next year.

29/09/2018 - A. A. C.
A. A. C. continued their league matches on Lambwath pond and produced a closely contested match with good weights. Paul did well to take the honours although Neil who finished second less than 10 pounds in arrears would have almost certainly at the rate he was catching when he was called away at 3.00p.m. been close to overhauling Paul if he could have fished the remaining one and a half hours of the match. But that's all speculation!!. Pete took third place only a couple of pounds behind his son. Again dad Pete and son Neil Blackman finished in the winners enclosure, it`s becoming a habit. A interesting incident happened during the match when one of the anglers hooked onto a rod and reel that had been lost by a pleasure angler when taken by a fish a couple of days earlier. Not only did he land the rod and reel but the fish was still on the hook which he duly weighed in!?. Congratulations to all participants. Well done lads.

16/09/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s summer league returned with a match on the Moat pond. I was a little apprehensive after the recent drop off in weights in recent matches on this pond and the very strong winds that greeted the anglers today, making for difficult conditions. It was a relief to see that Ian`s winning weight was 118 lbs. with a comfortable cushion of almost 50 lbs over Willy, a familiar name in second with 70 lbs. Craig with 55 lbs. 8 ozs was pushed hard by Steve Conlan in fourth with 54 lbs. 7ozs from peg 3 and K. Swyers with 50 lbs. from peg 14. I understand the lowest weight was 39 lbs. so overall another good effort from this group of anglers. Congratulations to all participants.

16/09/2018 - Post Office A. C.
The Post Office club held their last league match of the season on Lambwath pond and despite the very strong winds making conditions very difficult they managed to produce some good weights with only 12 lbs. covering the first three. I do not have specific back up weights but I understand that they were reasonably happy with the overall results. Congratulations to all participants in testing conditions. Hope to see you all next summer!.

15/09/2018 - A. A. C.
Aldbrough Angling Club continued their summer league matches on the Moat pond with some concerns regarding recent low match weights. These concerns were tempered somewhat by decent pleasure angling weights by some members in the run up to the match. Alas these were not bourn out in the match it`s self with less than hoped for results. Pete and Neil Blackman both appeared in the winners enclosure and not for the first time this year. Congratulations to all placed participants.

09/09/2018 - Ron`s Rovers
Ron brought his rovers to the moat pond but unfortunately they were unable to improve on the recent poor weights achieved of late in this pond. An example of this was that positions as high as 2nd. and 3rd. could only manage weights in the low teens. We will wait to see how Big Ken`s men fare on this pond this coming Sunday!!. Congratulations to all anglers who fished hard for little reward.

09/09/2018 - Tri-Star
Tri- Star travelled from Bridlington for their match on Lambwath pond. Pole fishing was hampered from the off due to the very strong winds but they still managed some reasonable weights. Close scrutiny of the scales at the weigh in was required as only 5 pounds separated the first three in the frame. Congratulations to all participants.

02/09/2018 - Travellers A. C.
A month after their last match on this pond the Travellers club returned to the Moat pond but the weights in this match were very poor. I have no explanation for the rapid drop off but hope that things pick up again. The Ayrton family took the first two places with Darren in first followed closely by his son Grant who was only 1 pound adrift in second. Congratulations to all participants.

02/09/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken` Summer league continued on Lambwath pond and where do I start to summarise this amazing effort from all members. Willy took the honours with a tremendous effort to top the 200 lbs mark. Neil and Craig in second and third did extremely well to finish in the frame amid great competition. How many matches would Steve Conlan win on another day with his weight of 157 lbs. from Peg 30. Col. Smith on Peg 13 and Ian Ireland Peg 10 finished in fifth and sixth being one pound apart with 132 and 131 lbs. Lenny was very unhappy with his peg draw, surprise, surprise! but still finished seventh with a very creditable 102 lbs. from Peg 21. This group of anglers never cease to amaze me with excellent results week after week. A big well done to all participants. A great performance.

A.A.C. continued their summer league season on Lambwath Lake and produced some decent weights with the Blackman family taking the honours. Leading the way was dad Pete followed very closely by his son in second place only 4 lbs. in arrears. A new comer to the club A. Hold ( unfortunately I do not as yet know his first name) took the last place in the frame with a weight just short of the 100 lbs mark. Congratulations to all participants.

27/08/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken held a none league match on Lambwath pond on bank holiday Monday and what a series of weights this group of anglers again produced. The top weight comfortably topped the 200 lbs. mark for the second time this season with Col Smith being the beneficiary this time. Second and third were Lenny and Neil with both exceeding the 170 lbs mark. Sean, sir name unknown! took fourth with a weight of 153 lbs from Peg 6. He was followed by Craig Swyer in fifth with 145 lbs. in Peg 24 who just beat his brother Ken who finished sixth in Peg 28 with 139 lbs. I do not have the exact weights for the rest of the anglers but I understand that they were very good if not challenging the front runners. All in all a tremendous match but not entirely unexpected as this group of anglers have produced this kind of results throughout the summer. Well done again lads and congratulations to all participants.

26/08/2018 - Woldsmen A.C.
Colin brought his Woldsmen club from Driffield to fish our Lambwath lake and despite a wild and wet second half to the match the pond produced a series of good weights. Not for the first time over the years Colin won the match with his 136 lbs. All in all a good match in testing conditions.

26/08/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s summer league continued on the Moat pond and despite very strong winds and squally rain during the second have of the match they produced another series of excellent weights. Willy took first place followed home by Lenny in second and Colin in third. Ian Raper was unlucky to only manage fourth with his 100 lbs. from peg 27. Andy Raper kept it in the family to finish fifth with 83 lbs from peg 13. A good match so well done to all participants

19/08/2018 - Hessle Ex-Servicemen
Hessle Ex-Servicemen fished the Moat but unfortunately the fish were very reluctant to come to the baits and only small weights came to the scales. As I understand it there was not a great gap between the first three weights and most of the rest of the anglers so anyone with a couple of good fish in the last ten minutes could have won it. A footnote to the match is that Mark, sir name unknown actually finished in second position with 32 lbs. from Peg 11 but was unable to claim any club glory.

19/08/2018 - Goat and Compass
Goat and Compass fished Lambwath pond with Steve a clear winner with 113 lbs from Peg 10 giving him a cushion of 47 lbs over second and third place who tied for these two positions with 66 lbs. from Pegs 10 and 26. I noticed that the western end of the pond including the end bank was heavily pegged with the wind off their backs but the three winning weights came from Pegs nearest the car park end. I feel that if they had used the car park end of the pond more there would have been much better weights as was proved in yesterdays match with the five 100 lbs plus weights all coming from this end. The wind was very strong so this may have influenced their decision

18/08/2018 - Hull Angling Centre
Geoff brought his Hull Angling Club for one of their rare matches on our ponds. Two or three top names were missing as they were fishing a national match on the Trent. The match still proved a success with the first 5 places all topping the hundred pound mark. The big surprise for Geoff was that he only scraped in, in fifth place. It was very well known names that regularly appear as winners at this venue that took the honours with Colin in first place and Willy third. Sandwiched between these two was Ian in second. A mishap at the weigh in may have affected the placings as whilst willy was transferring his catch from his keep net to the scales a carp estimated to be 4 lbs fell to the ground and flipped into the water. As only 5 lbs. covered the fist three this could have had a big effect on the result and league positions at the end of the season. Barry Smith claimed fourth position with a creditable 107 lbs. from peg 6. with G. Dunham as mentioned in fifth with 104 lbs from peg 2. Well done lads for a good match and congratulations to all placed participants.

Big Ken`s summer League moved to the Caravan pond with reduced numbers again due to holidays and club matches. Despite a couple of big names being missing excellent weights were obtained across the board with Steve coming home first on this occasion with a 20 lbs. cushion over Willy who again finished in the frame. Colin was close behind in 3rd.with Lenny in 4th. with 85 lbs. This pond holds a good head of larger fish than the other ponds on this complex and according to reports many fish and plenty of gear were lost around the pond and at least one pole was smashed. Time to upgrade the pole gear for the next time you use this pond!!. Well done to all participants.

Patrington Haven fished a match on the Moat pond with nothing exceptional to report in a average type match, but congratulations to all placed participants. Congratulations must go to the winner R. Silverwood who won Patrington`s last match, two weeks ago on the Lambwath pond. Well done sir, as your first name is unknown to me.

11/08/2018 - A. A. C.
The A.A.C. club held their annual open match on the Lambwath pond with pretty much decent weights around the pond. Dissapointingly for all the locals it was two visiting anglers that took the honours and surprise, surprise it was the father and son duo of Wane and Loz. from the Leeds area who where first and second. This pair also won the last open match the club ran on the Lambwath pond just a month ago and finished in the same order. They both topped the 100 lbs mark this time with Pete following in third with 84 lbs Congratulations to all placed participants.

05/08/2018 - Ron`s Rovers
Ron`s Rovers fished Lambwath pond with the winners weight approaching a par weight for the pond of 96 lbs. Runner up Kev. was struggling slightly until the last hour or so when the fish moved into the margins and came to the net thick and fast but not quick enough to challenge first place. Congratulations to all placed participants.

05/08/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s summer league continued on the Moat pond and despite reduced numbers due to holidays they produced a match of outstanding weights. Colin took first place with a tremendous 170 lbs. He was nowhere until the last couple of hours when plenty of big fish moved into the margins of his peg. Another great effort from Willy who produced his second 130 lbs. plus weight in the last two matches on the Moat and on any other day would surely have expected to claim 1st. place. Craig took 3rd. spot with his105 lbs. and was followed closely by Steve Conlan in 4th with 101 lbs. from Peg 23. 5th. place went to Len Pulford in Peg 27 who had to make do with mostly stock fish in his 85 lbs. as very few large fish visited his swim. No records are kept but it is thought that Col`s winning weight may be a Moat Pond record. Congratulations must go to all participants as the back up weights not mentioned here were very good. This group of anglers continue to set new standards at these ponds so well done to all.!

04/08/2018 - A.A.C.
The A.A.C. club fished their latest summer league match on Lambwath pond. With the enforced absence of Phil who has won their last 5 matches, Ian returned to winning ways with a slightly below par weight for the pond of 90 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants.

29/07/2018 - K. Com. A.C.
K. Com A.C. held a small match on Lambwath pond using just the right hand side of the pond dividing rope. Conditions were difficult again with rain and strong winds through a large part of the match. K. Smales won the match with 50 lbs 14 ozs. whilst A. Anderson followed the first three home with 25 lbs 13 ozs. to claim 4th position. Congratulations to all participants.

29/07/2018 - Travellers A.C.
The main interest in Travellers match on the Moat pond was if Phil could extend his excellent record of six matches on the bounce at these ponds. At the scales the answer was no as he was relegated to second place by a very good effort from Darren who claimed victory with a good weight of aprox. 79 lbs. keeping Phil at arms length by some 20 lbs. Darren`s weight was made up mainly of small stock carp which he kept going for most of the match with no sign of the big fish in his swim. Well done Darren in winning the match and breaking Phil`s excellent run. Just outside the first three was C. Adamson with 41 lbs. 8 ozs to finish in fourth position. Congratulations to all placed participants.

28/07/2018 - Patrington Haven
Patrington Haven fished a match on Lambwath pond but after such a long period of good weather they were greeted by a tremendous thunderstorm whilst setting up, at this point the wind also increased to almost gale force. Luckily the rain cleared away and the sun came out for the rest of the day although the wind continued making for difficult fishing conditions. The match was won with a respectable 108 lbs. Congratulations to all placed participants.

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Lambwath 6 R. Silverwood 108 lbs. 5 ozs.

22/07/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s Summer League continued on Lambwath Pond where the day before a match had been won with 51 lbs. The thoughts were would the pond fish hard again. We need not have been concerned as a series of tremendous weights made for an. excellent match. The first surprise was that Lenny drew even what he must consider was a good peg and made full use of it with a superb winning weight of 205 lbs. This was not an easy victory by any means as he was pushed all the way by Willy who put together a superb 196 lbs. for 2nd. place. Craig would win many a match with his 161 lbs. but could only manage 3rd. S. Conlan claimed 4th with 130 lbs. followed by I. Ireland in 5th. with 124 lbs. The scales would need close scrutiny to separate B. Wheal in 6th position with 100 lbs. 6 ozs. from A. Raper who`s 99 lbs. 14 ozs. fell just 8 ozs. short, pushing him into 7th place. Big Ken was last in pond with 58 lbs. but said if he had managed to land all the fish he had lost he would have been up there with the rest!. This was yet another excellent performance from an outstanding group of anglers whose weights over the season consistently out perform other matches. Well done to all participants

21/07/2018 - Flow-Star
Flow-star held a match on Lambwath pond. It was a very warm day which may have been responsible for fish being slow to the nets until the last hour or so. This is when the fish started to feed but with not enough time left for the anglers to build up any large weights. John again took first place but was pushed closely with only 5 pounds separating the first three. It was a close match in many respects with a cluster of weights separated by only a few pounds. Congratulations to all placed participants.

Peg Number Name Catch
1st Lambwath 7. J. Parker. 51 lbs.
2nd Lambwath 6. A. Vickers. 49 lbs.

21/07/2018 - A.A.C.
Aldbrough Angling Club held their latest league match on the Moat pond which ended in familiar fashion with Phil taking first place. In our reckoning this is Phil`s six win on the bounce at these ponds. Five of these wins are with the Aldbrough club since he joined them with the other win sandwiched between them for his other club, Travellers A.C. We will see if he can continue his run when Travellers fish the Moat this coming Sunday. Interestingly before Aldbrough`s match last Saturday one of the members requested that peg 19 was left out as he had drawn it on the last two occasions and caught very little. The peg was left in, Phil drew it and won the match with his 60 lbs.!!

14/07/2018 - A.A.C.
Aldbrough Angling Club held their annual Dennis Wainwright memorial match on Lambwath pond at the weekend. Dennis was responsible for setting up the club some years ago but sadly died aprox. three years ago. The match was disappointing for the local members as visiting anglers took the first three places. A father and son duo from the Leeds area Wane and Loz. claimed the first two slots whilst Jack, based in southern Spain was a close third. Congratulations to all participants.

08/07/2018 - K. Swyers
Big Ken`s Summer League continued on the Moat pond with the now familiar good weights from this group of anglers, several of whom fished this pond yesterday with Hull Angling Centre. It will be noticed that the first two places today were occupied by the same two names yesterday although the positions were reversed. Today Willy took first place with a outstanding weight of 132 lbs. relegating Neil to second with his 81 lbs. Neil drew peg 23 on both days which proved productive for him with 1st. and 2nd.over the weekend. Andy was a creditable 3rd with 64 lbs. Congratulations to Willy for a outstanding performance that left him with a cushion of 50 lbs. on the chasing group. Well done to all participants. A good effort.
